As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that I was quite excited when I heard about the Sonic X Shadow Generations’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack. The prospect of Keanu Reeves voicing Shadow the Hedgehog was enough to pique my interest. However, upon closer inspection, I found myself a bit underwhelmed.
Sonic X Shadow Generations’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack is now available on all platforms. Available standalone and with the Deluxe Edition, it features a new stage in Shibuya, based on the upcoming movie, and, of course, Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow. Check it out below.
The trailer hints that the DLC features a compact narrative where Shadow apparently finds himself in a mysterious dimension and acquires a fresh form. Despite this change, Shadow retains his ability to use Chaos Control.
Priced at $5.99, the Downloadable Content (DLC) has a “Mixed” rating on Steam based on 299 reviews, with about 68% being positive. The main complaints seem to be its brief duration, as it only offers one playable Act, and the inability to incorporate the cinematic look into the main game.
Nevertheless, it is Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog, which may be enough for some fans. Sonic X Shadow Generations is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch and has sold 1.5 million copies. Check out our review here.
