As I delve into this heart-warming journey of resilience and determination, I am struck by the remarkable stories of these extraordinary individuals who have faced adversity head-on. Each one of them has not only survived but thrived, turning their battles into testaments of hope and inspiration for all.
Jason Chambers is sharing an update about his health.
In a candid conversation, the captain of “Below Deck Down Under” revealed he underwent a biopsy in Bali and was diagnosed with melanoma – a form of skin cancer. Following his test results, Chambers disclosed further insights about the advice given by doctors upon his return to Australia.
In Chambers’ December 16 Instagram video, he expressed dissatisfaction with the instructions given to the highly skilled Australian doctors. The second stage, involving the removal of a larger section for testing the lymph nodes, was not what they were advised to proceed with.
Later on, Chambers detailed that he’s anticipating the shipment of the sample from Bali to Australia for additional analysis, although it might not get there before the upcoming festive season.
“Look Australia, two out of three people suffer from melanoma,” he shared. “It’s a big thing.”
The Bravo star, 52, also advised his followers to take precautionary measures while out in the sun.
He mentioned that in the past, he didn’t use sunscreen while on a boat. Instead, he would apply zinc oxide only on his nose due to concerns about chemicals. Fortunately, there are numerous chemical-free sun protection options available these days, which is fantastic.
In addition, Chambers elaborated on his health perspective within the caption of his post, urging others to exercise similar caution.
Having grown up playing sports outdoors and working near the sea, I assumed I was immune to the harmful rays of the sun. Despite my fondness for the sun and its obvious health advantages, it’s important to exercise caution – everything in life requires balance, pick your fights. Recently diagnosed with melanoma through a biopsy, I now face an anxious wait. What I believed was a simple skin spot has proven to be more serious in just six months, emphasizing the importance of early detection.
Just like the star from Below Deck advised, choose a sunscreen that’s free of chemicals, seek shelter under a hat when possible, and safely bask in the sun while being well-protected.
