As a researcher who has spent countless hours hunched over various devices, from ancient CRT monitors to sleek touchscreens, I can say that the return of Microsoft’s hardware accessories through its partnership with Incase is a welcome development. The partnership, as described by Incase, promises a blend of Microsoft’s innovative spirit and Incase’s stylish performance, which sounds like a perfect match for my often-neglected ergonomic needs.
Previously, Microsoft ceased production on their extensive series of PC hardware accessories which encompassed a myriad of mice, keyboards, and audio devices throughout the years. Fortunately, there’s been a silver lining – earlier this year, Microsoft unveiled plans to collaborate with Incase to reintroduce some of these discontinued items.
This partnership combines Microsoft’s 30 years of expertise and innovation with Incase’s decades of exceptional performance and popular aesthetics. Previously, these two companies collaborated to create the official Surface Hub stand, designed for the Surface Hub 2S and Surface Hub 3, which now boasts the ability to rotate.
Today marks the debut of the first set of Incase accessories under their new collaboration with Microsoft, branded as “Incase Designed by Microsoft”. At present, just two items are up for grabs – the Modern Mobile Mouse and the Mobile Mouse 1850. However, anticipate a wider range to be released in the upcoming months.
The new accessories share a similar design philosophy as Microsoft’s original ones, with the exception that the Microsoft emblem has been swapped for an Incase one. As Incase puts it, “You’ll find the same high-performance design you’re accustomed to from both Incase and Microsoft, now combined.
As a researcher, I’m excited to share that there are more accessories designed by Microsoft in the pipeline, such as the Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard, Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse, Modern Webcam, and Wireless Headset. At present, you can grab the Incase Designed by Microsoft Modern Mobile Mouse for $39.99 on Amazon, or opt for the more budget-friendly Mobile Mouse 1850, priced at just $24.99, both available for immediate purchase on Amazon.
Microsoft continues to develop its own accessories, excluding the Incase collaboration, and these products now fall under the Surface brand. This year, Microsoft introduced the Surface Desktop Keyboard featuring the Copilot+ key, in addition to a fresh Flex Keyboard accessory designed for the Surface Pro.
