As a seasoned comic book aficionado who has been following the Marvel Universe since the dawn of time (or at least the 90’s), I must say that the upcoming events in the Ultimate Universe are truly tantalizing! The clash between Captain America, Human Torch, and the Red Skull Gang is reminiscent of a classic cat-and-mouse game, with the added twist of the Punisher-esque symbol on their bandannas.
The revamped Marvel Ultimate Universe has left a significant mark in the comics industry and is showing no signs of slowing down. Recently, Marvel unveiled sneak peeks hinting at what lies ahead for the Ultimate Universe in its second year, showcasing the X-Men characters Gambit and Kitty Pryde. The Captain America storyline also hasn’t been overlooked, as today we have our first insights into the ultimate iterations of the malevolent Red Skull and the enigmatic Namor.
In The Ultimates #10, the action starts off, and we discover that Captain America and Human Torch are embarking on a mission to seek aid from their former comrade Namor. However, it won’t be a simple task as they must confront not only the Red Skull but also his gang, with the Red Skull no longer operating solo these days.
In Dike Ruan’s cover, we don’t catch a glimpse of Namor initially, but instead, the Red Skull Gang is attempting to overpower Captain America, Hawkeye, and Human Torch. The gang members are sporting bandannas displaying the Red Skull emblem, which resembles The Punisher’s symbol more than the typical Hydra insignia. This raises curiosity about what other modifications have been made to the character of Red Skull.
