As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that 2025 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Xbox Series X/S owners like myself. The lineup of exclusives Microsoft has planned, including Fable, Avowed, South of Midnight, and Towerborne, among others, has me absolutely thrilled. And let’s not forget about the rumored release of Gears of War: E-Day!
2024 will see Microsoft concluding the year with four significant exclusives for Xbox Series X/S. But, the following year, 2025, is predicted to be even more exciting, as we’re expecting the launches of games like Fable, Avowed, South of Midnight, and Towerborne. Additionally, there are rumors about the release of Gears of War: E-Day. Other titles on the horizon include The Outer Worlds 2 (previously confirmed for PS5), Ark 2, and 33 Immortals, which fans can eagerly anticipate.
It’s no wonder there might be an upcoming Xbox event in January 2025, as Tom Warren from The Verge hinted at this possibility on Bluesky. While his statement could be seen as a personal expectation rather than a confirmed rumor, it’s not entirely out of the question. In fact, Xbox has held a Developer_Direct in January for the last two years, revealing significant details and trailers for various games, as well as providing exclusive looks into several studios.
Should rumors prove true and Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight indeed launch in March 2025, there’s a strong possibility that an official announcement might be made at some point. Keep an eye out for further announcements as we move closer to the month ahead.
It feels as if Microsoft has found a consistent rhythm with their Xbox Game Pass releases, and it’s exhilarating! Titles like Indiana Jones have already dropped, and the horizon for 2025 looks promising with upcoming games such as Avowed, South of Midnight, Doom, Towerborne, Fable, Outer Worlds 2, and many more set to debut next year.
