Lost Soul Aside Requires PlayStation Network Account on PC

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming history under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tad exasperated by this latest trend from Sony. I remember the good old days when we could play games on our preferred platform without any hassle or cross-platform restrictions. Now, it seems like every other game requires linking a PlayStation Network account, even single-player experiences!

Among the numerous projects being developed under PlayStation’s China Hero Project, it’s worth noting that Lost Soul Aside by UltiZero Games has been in development for an extended period. Recently, they unveiled a new trailer and provided a release window, with pre-orders now possible on both the PlayStation Store and Steam. However, similar to other titles published by PlayStation, PC gamers will need to connect a PlayStation Network account to play this game.

Initially, the requirement for connecting a PlayStation Network (PSN) account in multiplayer modes for games like Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead caused controversy. Although Sony eventually changed this policy, it became compulsory for the online Legends mode of Ghost of Tsushima on PC. Even single-player titles such as God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn remake require linking a PSN account, which was a point of contention among some players.

It appears that, much like Lost Soul Aside, other games developed by the China Hero Project might require similar system specifications if they’re released on PC. However, we’ll need more information before we can confirm this for certain.

Lost Soul Aside launches in 2025 for PS5 and PC. Check out some more extensive gameplay here.
