As a lifelong anime enthusiast who has traversed through countless worlds of magic, monsters, and mayhem, I can confidently say that the upcoming anime adaptation of Farmagia has piqued my interest like no other. Having grown up on Hiro Mashima’s masterpieces Fairy Tail and Edens Zero, it’s exciting to see him venture into a new realm, blending farming mechanics with high-stakes war drama.
Picture this: Instead of growing endless rows of potatoes on her FarmVille, your mom cultivates mighty monsters to challenge an oppressive regime. This unique twist is what makes the game called Farmagia! Created by renowned manga artist Hiro Mashima (famous for Fairy Tail and Edens Zero), this game was launched on November 1st, 2024, and it took the world by storm. Simultaneously, Studio Bridge was working on an anime adaptation. Before its Japanese premiere on January 10th, 2025, and simultaneous streaming on Crunchyroll, we’ve recently gotten a sneak peek at this exciting new anime version.
Beware, Farmagia’s farm-similar mechanics might deceive you; it’s primarily a narrative of war centered around an evil sorcerer seizing power to control the world. As revealed in the synopsis from Crunchyroll, the story unfolds with this malevolent mage establishing his oppressive regime.
In the tranquil town of Felicidad, a unique group of farmers called the Farmagia breed monstrous creatures under the benevolent leadership of Magus Diluculum. Following the demise of the Magus, chaos ensues as various factions exploit these monsters in a bid for power. Meanwhile, in Centvelt, Farmagia Ten and his companions unite to challenge the tyrannical new leader, Glaza. Determined to protect their autonomy, Ten, his allies, and their self-made monstrous companions stand firm.
Farmagia‘s Trailer Introduces the Main Characters
In a similar fashion to a popular video game, the anime titled Farmagia will trace the adventures of Ten and his comrades, who are known as the Dragons of Centvelt, as they embark on a quest to cultivate the mightiest monsters and overthrow the new dictator Felicidad. The character of Ten will be brought to life by Kohei Amasaki, who is also known for his work in Mobile Suit Gundam. Accompanying him on this journey are Arche (voiced by Ayane Sakura), Leii (Reio Tsuchida), Chica (Inori Minase), Emero (Hiro Shimono), Anzar (Takuya Sato), and Lookie-Loo (Atsumi Tanezaki). Ryusei Nakao, famed for his work in Dragonball Z, will lend his voice to the villainous Glaza.
The ensemble is completed by Mikako Komatsu (as Nares), Shigeru Chiba (in the role of Dentro), Koki Uchiyama (playing Manas), Tatsu Inada (as L’Oreill), Yoko Hikasa (portraying Lisan), Kanjiro Tsuda (in the character of Diluculum), Hiromichi Tezuka (as Eeda), and Yuki Ishikari (in the role of Beezar). When the show’s launch date was unveiled in November, fans were captivated by a breathtaking poster displaying Ten alongside the Dragons of Centvelt.
Farmagia Trailer Unveils the New Ending Song
Beyond revealing the main characters in detail, the latest trailer additionally disclosed the ending theme song for the series. Performed by the Japanese heavy-rock group Sokoninaru, the track “miss-dystopia” will be featured in the show’s final credits.
The anime titled “Farmagia” is led by Shinji Ishihira, who previously worked on “Fairy Tail”, and it’s jointly directed by Toshihiko Sano, known for his work on “One Piece”. Character design for the animation was handled by Toshiomi Iizumi from “Clockwork Planet”, while the soundtrack was created by Shuhei Mutsuki from “Lycoris Recoil”. Starting from January 10, you’ll be able to watch “Farmagia”. However, the exact number of episodes that will air has yet to be disclosed.
