Destiny 2 Nerfing Graviton Lance (And Two Other Exotics)

As a veteran Destiny 2 gamer with countless hours spent battling aliens and grinding for loot, I can’t help but feel a sense of renewed hope as I read about the upcoming changes and updates. The revamping of Graviton Lance, Malfeasance, and Stoicism is long overdue, and I can already imagine the tactical advantages these tweaks will bring to my arsenal.

“Destiny 2” is now experiencing its quietest period of the year, but with the approach of “The Dawning” event, players are encouraged to take a break from their busy schedules to explore and enjoy all the content they’ve missed. Although the game isn’t particularly active right now, Bungie has recently shed light on some significant changes coming to three Exotics, which were in dire need of an update. First, there’s the Graviton Lance: Bungie is planning to revert the RPM change that took effect during Act 2 of Revenant, returning it to 300 RPM, hopefully making it less dominant in Crucible matches.

Misconduct is the second major issue highlighted in the report. The developers have announced a solution following the detection of an issue related to the Precision perk, where the Hand Cannon was not receiving accuracy enhancements or the newly introduced reduction in ADS movement speed penalty, making the gun less effective compared to other alternatives within its class. Lastly, Stoicism will undergo adjustment since Spirit of Alpha Lupi is now compatible with Thruster. Previously, there was no interaction between them for several months, but now that this issue has been resolved, the healing effect will be scaled back to maintain a balance.

On January 7th, you’ll find a slew of changes arriving with the Act III update, wrapping up the ongoing Revenant storyline while introducing fresh weapons, artifacts, and an Exotic mission to spice things up. But that’s not all! Bungie has another surprise for us, unveiling a brand-new Dungeon set to drop exactly a month later. Keep your eyes peeled after the holiday break for more details on that. For now, mark your calendars with February 7th as the release date. As a gamer, I can’t wait to dive in!

The content coming for Destiny 2 in 2025 is just the beginning of what’s to come. Back in September, a change in direction was announced for the game following the end of the Light and Darkness saga with The Final Shape. Instead of one large yearly Expansion, players can now expect two smaller expansions throughout the year. The first of these is codenamed Apollo, which hints at a Metroidvania-style expansion to the world. In this new content, players will find themselves completing non-linear missions, all interwoven by over two dozen different storylines.

Code Name: Apollo will be succeeded by Code Name: Behemoth starting Winter 2025, aiming to fill the usually prolonged gap known as The Dawning. To maintain engagement and offer fresh content, four annual updates are planned. Although specifics are still under wraps, expect these updates to resemble Seasonal updates, offering players additional content to enjoy between the two major annual releases.

It’s not unexpected that significant shifts are occurring. The rocky introduction of past expansions and persistent layoffs at Bungie made the game’s earlier state far from ideal. By all indications, The Final Shape exceeded expectations in delivering everything fans anticipated from the conclusion of this ten-year storyline. However, it was crucial for innovation to take place for things to continue moving forward. Here’s hoping that this new phase will bring improved experiences for players and developers alike.
