As a long-time Ubisoft fanatic with a gaming history that spans across decades, I must say the announcement of XDefiant’s Season 3 has me reminiscing about the good old days. The inclusion of factions from some of my all-time favorite Ubisoft franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, and Far Cry is nothing short of a dream come true!
As of June 3rd, 2025, Ubisoft’s game XDefiant will no longer be operational. However, before it wraps up, it has released its final update – Season 3. To the delight of many players, this season is packed with fresh content such as three new factions and a total of 13 maps. For more specifics, take a look at the overview trailer.
The groups under discussion consist of the Assassins (from Assassin’s Creed), capable of one-hit kills with their melee attacks; the Wolves (Ghost Recon: Breakpoint) who employ drones in combat; and Blood Dragon soldiers from Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, boasting superhuman strength and lasers. Initially, it was intended to release four new maps – Mykonos and El Barrio for Arena, Jorvik for Linear, and Animus Anomaly for Tactical. However, this update also encompasses nine additional maps specifically designed for upcoming seasons.
In addition to the regular gameplay, new modes such as Defuse, Lum Hunt, and Turbo XD are now accessible. You can also opt for a battle against AI Bots, which offer different levels of challenge. Earning experience points is slightly less when playing against these bots compared to real opponents.
Additionally, Season 3 brings about some crucial adjustments aimed at maintaining equilibrium. For instance, it reduces the power of DedSec’s Spiderbots, accelerates the speed of Phantom’s Blitz, and offers other modifications. For a comprehensive understanding, peruse the patch notes provided below.
The game titled “XDefiant” can be played on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. However, it is not currently accepting any new players. You can read our review of the original game by following this link.
