As a long-time fan of slice-of-life and romance anime, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the return of My Dress-Up Darling for a second season! The first season was such a refreshing and heartwarming tale that perfectly captured the essence of friendship, self-discovery, and the joy of cosplay.
Gear up for your outfits since the second season of “My Dress-Up Darling” is on its way! Originating from the slice-of-life/romance manga by Shinichi Fukuda, the anime adaptation from CloverWorks premiered in Winter 2022. Ever since then, fans have been anxiously waiting for any Season 2 updates. That wait is over as yesterday brought the announcement of Season 2 for “My Dress-Up Darling,” set to air in 2025. To add to the excitement, we now have a sneak peek at what’s coming next!
My Dress-Up Darling showcases shy teenager Wakana Gojou, who prefers the company of Hina Dolls over people at school. When he accidentally meets the school’s popular girl, Marin Kitagawa, he learns about her passion for cosplay. By utilizing his sewing and makeup abilities, he designs breathtaking cosplays for Marin, fostering a bond between them that eventually blossoms into something deeper.
My Dress-Up Darling Season 2’s First Poster Revealed
For Season 2 of “My Dress-Up Darling,” the initial promotional poster has been unveiled, showcasing Gojou appearing dazed by the multitude of costumes he’s crafted. The artwork depicts Gojou donning his typical hina doll-making attire, with a group of around a dozen Marins clustered around him, each sporting different cosplay ensembles.
The poster references some of Marin’s top cosplays from Season 1, such as Shizuku Kuroe from the fictional dating simulation game “Saint ♡ Slippery’s Academy for Girls – The Young Ladies of the Humiliation Club: Debauched Miracle Life 2“, and the fearsome Black Lovelia from the fictitious anime “Flower Princess Blaze“.
The arrival of the fresh poster signaled that the original cast from Season 1 would reprise their roles for the upcoming second season. Actress Hina Suguta will be back as Marin Kitagawa, and Shouya Ishige will lend his voice to Wakana Gojou again.
My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 Releases in 2025

Fans were thrilled about the news of Season 2 and couldn’t help but share their excitement on the internet, causing it to quickly spread like a wildfire.
In 2022, My Dress-Up Darling turned out to be a surprising favorite. Initially categorized as seinen because of its moments involving fan service, this anime hid beneath the world of cosplay and revealing costumes a deeply emotional story about love, anxiety, pursuing aspirations, and masculinity. This heartfelt narrative resonated with viewers, creating a devoted fanbase who enthusiastically discussed their affection for the show on social media. Interestingly, My Dress-Up Darling also sparked an interest in cosplay among a new group of fans.
