As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Stalker 2‘s Patch 1.1 has brought a breath of fresh air to the post-apocalyptic wasteland. After experiencing the game’s initial bug-ridden release, it feels like a Christmas miracle to see such an extensive update addressing over 1,800 issues!
Initially launched in November, Stalker 2 came with a multitude of game-halting glitches. In response, the developers at GSC Game World have rolled out a massive update to begin the challenging task of exterminating these issues.
As Christmas and New Year approach, we are excited to debut Patch 1.1,” the developer announces on Steam, marking our first update. This patch addresses over 1,800 concerns, beginning with a significant enhancement to the artificial intelligence of the NPCs in our FPS survival horror game, known as A-Life.
In Stalker 2, NPCs will no longer unexpectedly appear behind players or out of nowhere, addressing concerns about unpredictable combat scenarios and making the behavior of NPCs seem more realistic (with the exception of their radiation-affected characteristics). Additionally, visual issues such as mutants appearing to fly like airplanes after being shot with a shotgun, or NPCs getting lost on battlefields covered in corpses, will be addressed and minimized.
In addition to improving the appearance and actions of non-player characters, GSC Game World has given Stalker 2 an overhaul by resolving approximately 250 main mission glitches, 500 issues with visual effects such as vegetation and screen flickering, and addressing around 80 problems with cutscene facial animations, haptic feedback, and missing NPCs. The developer has also worked on performance enhancements by tackling some game freezes and frame rate drops near bodies of water, among other changes. If this news doesn’t make you feel like a child on Christmas morning, I’m not sure what will – maybe a warm cup of milk?
Regardless, GSC Game World acknowledges that their Patch 1.1 is quite substantial. They clarify on Steam that they are aware of the large file size and the time it requires to download. In appreciation for your patience, they express that they will also be focusing on improving this aspect.
