Dead by Daylight Mobile Officially Shutting Down

As a dedicated fan who’s been hooked on Dead by Daylight since its inception, I must admit, this mobile closure news has me feeling like a survivor cornered by the Trapper! It’s a bitter pill to swallow, especially after investing countless hours chasing after those elusive survivors and killers.

It’s sad to announce that the mobile edition of Dead by Daylight, the portable horror game, is closing permanently. Fortunately, the original version of the game continues to thrive. However, starting January 16, 2025, Dead by Daylight will no longer be available for download on both Apple Store and Google Play Store. This means that as of January 16, 2025, no new downloads or in-app purchases can be made. Any existing credits can still be used. If you have the game installed currently, you can continue playing until the servers are shut down on March 20, 2025.

Behavior Interactive will keep working on the console and PC version of “Dead by Daylight”, providing a special offer for players moving from the mobile version to their PC or console counterparts. Players with accounts on both platforms can still claim this offer. The welcome package includes 500,000 Bloodpoints and 2,250 Iridescent Shards. Extra rewards consist of Auric Cells, Iridescent Shards, and Bloodpoints that are based on the amount of money spent and experience earned within the game. These rewards are converted from local currencies to USD and fully explained in the FAQ page for the shutdown of “Dead by Daylight Mobile“.

Based on recent speculation, some believe the recent triumph of Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play hero shooter featuring Marvel characters, has led NetEase to redirect their attention from Dead by Daylight Mobile towards Marvel Rivals. However, it’s important to note that this is merely speculation, as no official confirmation has been made. Given NetEase’s extensive portfolio of games and ongoing projects, the validity of this theory may be questionable. The cancellation of Dead by Daylight Mobile might just be due to the developer reallocating resources to new ventures.

It might come as a surprise to some that “Dead by Daylight Mobile” is officially ceasing operations, but many players had anticipated this move due to the scarcity of developer updates, missed deadlines, and questionable handling of in-game events. Moreover, numerous “Dead by Daylight Mobile” enthusiasts have already started focusing on which cosmetic items might be transferable. Unfortunately, characters from “Attack on Titan,” a widely recognized anime, are unlikely to be transferable due to licensing complications. On the other hand, content from popular franchises like Tomb Raider and Castlevania can already be utilized in the primary game.

Since players have only a limited time left to engage with Dead by Daylight Mobile, it could be beneficial to transition to the PC and console version of Dead by Daylight now. This move will prepare them for when the servers are shut down, making the game unplayable. Additionally, there are spin-offs like What the Fog that players can explore to delve deeper into the universe of DBD, even as the mobile version fades away.
