Stalker 2 patch 1.1 is really big. Today’s update fixes more than 1800 bugs, some of which affect A-Life system

As a seasoned Stalker, I’ve walked the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone more times than I care to count, and I can confidently say that the recent 1.1 update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has me feeling like I’m stepping into a freshly irradiated wasteland once again. The developers at GSC Game World have truly outdone themselves with this patch, particularly with their attention to the A-Life system.

Approximately a month following the launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the developers have rolled out their first significant update, labeled 1.1. This update addresses over 1800 problems, with initial fixes targeted at improving the malfunctioning A-Life system. Players on Steam have reported that this patch is substantial, weighing in at around 100-110 GB, so anticipate a lengthy download process.

STALKER 2 – changes in version 1.1

Let’s start with the most important thing, which is the A-Life system.

  1. The range within which the player can spot independent characters has been significantly increased, and these characters now wander around the Zone more frequently.
  2. NPCs also have improved navigation and increased motivation to expand territories and attack enemies.
  3. Furthermore, a bug related to NPCs appearing behind the player was fixed, as well as another one that caused them not to exist in offline mode, outside of our visualization range.
  4. From now on, groups exploring the Zone are more diverse in terms of possible factions and numbers.

As a devoted fan, here’s how I would rephrase that: From now on, I’m particularly excited about advancements in AI. Key upgrades include reducing the frequency of psychic canines, enhancing NPC tactics when taking cover and firing, improving their navigation skills, and making strides in their peaceful conduct.

Indeed, modifications were implemented such as enhancing the rewards for multiple missions, extending the duration for which Snork can be activated, altering the worth of the Goldfish relic, and boosting the damage inflicted by psionic barriers.

Many issues related to movie cutscenes, interactive objects, main and side quests, as well as the open world and its exploration, have been resolved. The whole list is really long, so if you are interested in detailed changes, I recommend checking it out.

To summarize, it’s worth noting that while the initial rollout was less than perfect, the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has proven to be financially successful for GSC Game World studio, with profits already being made. Additionally, there have been whispers of a possible Netflix adaptation of the game on the horizon.
