2 cryptocurrencies to reach a $100 billion market cap in 2025

  • A $100 billion market cap – two crypto giants have reached it, only to fall short of holding on.
  • Does this open the door for their rivals to seize the moment and take the lead?

As a seasoned crypto investor with scars from the 2017 bull run and the subsequent bear market, I’ve learned to tread cautiously but confidently in this ever-evolving landscape. The race for the $100 billion market cap is heating up, and it’s intriguing to see Solana and Binance Coin vying for the lead.

In the crypto market, diversification is a go-to strategy for investors managing risk, where top tokens often become the ‘next big thing’ when Bitcoin [BTC] peaks.

Over the past few months, particularly since November, there’s been a significant change in the crypto market. Some high-value tokens have skyrocketed, gaining momentum due to the ‘Trump effect’, while others have faltered and experienced a decline.

As a crypto investor, I’m finding myself in a thoughtful state as we approach the closing days of this year. The unpredictability of 2025 looms large, and it seems many are rethinking their investment strategies accordingly. The question on everyone’s mind is: Which high-value token might be the next to surpass the $100 billion market cap? And with recent fluctuations in the market, is this the opportune moment to capitalize on a potential ‘dip’?

Breaking down the competition

It’s worth noting that among the numerous crypto tokens available, just three have a market value exceeding $100 billion at present. The rivalry is fierce, and given the unpredictable nature of the market, it remains uncertain whether additional tokens will join this elite group or if the number will decrease even more.

Nevertheless, several contenders appear well-positioned to make an impact. With Solana’s market capitalization at approximately $93 billion and Binance Coin slightly ahead at $96 billion, both are primed to attempt surpassing the $100 billion threshold. The intriguing aspect now is: which one will reach it first?

However, it’s worth noting that Solana’s market capitalization peaked at an astounding $125 billion following its all-time high of $264 in mid-November. Yet, since then, the market has experienced a downturn, making it challenging for SOL to surpass the $220 barrier.

From my perspective as a researcher, it’s worth noting that December was exceptionally successful for BNB, reaching an unprecedented peak of $793 and boosting its market capitalization to a staggering $112 billion. However, maintaining this elevated position has presented challenges, and BNB now stands at a critical juncture.

It appears that SOL and BNB remain uncontested at the top, with no other major tokens coming close to their positions. Reaching a market cap of $100 billion for either seems like a straightforward journey.

However, avoid becoming complacent as the transition from November to December has shown an unpredictable pattern, leaving experienced investors uncertain.

Now that we’ve looked at these potential investments, should we dive in and invest ‘long’ term on them, or could the market have some unexpected changes in store for us by 2025?

Rivals lurk, eyeing the $100 billion market cap

The crypto market is a mix of ‘winners’ and ‘underdogs.’ In November, one underdog, Ripple (XRP), made a surprising leap, breaking through two resistance levels and reaching a market cap of $130 billion.

It’s apparent that XRP has disrupted Solana’s lead, capturing investments in a manner not anticipated by many. However, the competition for superiority is still very much ongoing.

Mentioning Solana, often referred to as Ethereum‘s rival, it maintains a significant advantage due to its swift blockchain technology and practical applications in the real world. Thus, labeling its recent dip as merely a temporary ‘glitch’ could be quite accurate.

It appears that even future traders concur: Solana’s Open Interest (OI) consistently hovers around the $5 – $6 billion mark. Each price spike triggers an increase in long position holdings.

If you’re investing in Solana (SOL), be prepared for a trial of perseverance. The foundation is strong, and its long-standing resilience makes it a contender for surpassing a $100 billion market capitalization in the future.

Regarding BNB, it’s currently experiencing a robust surge past $800. On the other hand, the prospects for XRP remain unclear at this point. The recent spike could be just a brief flare-up or the beginning of a larger trend. Time will tell when we reach 2025.

Moving forward, SOL and BNB are likely contenders to reach a valuation of $100 billion each. Given their robust foundations, this moment might present an excellent opportunity to invest during a price decrease, but remember that it’s crucial to view your investment as a long-term commitment rather than seeking immediate profits.
