As an observer with a deep-rooted affection for animated DC series and a keen eye for voice acting talent, I find myself torn between the zany antics of the current Teen Titans Go! and the nostalgic allure of the original Teen Titans. The latter, with its grittier tone and compelling storylines, holds a special place in my heart, having grown up watching it. Tara Strong, a voice acting powerhouse who breathed life into Raven (among many other characters), shares this sentiment, expressing her hope for the return of the original series despite the ongoing success of its comedic counterpart.
In a lighter, more conversational style: Robin, Beast Boy, Starfire, Cyborg, and Raven could appear as humorous, smaller versions of their initial appearances in the classic Teen Titans cartoon series. However, fans haven’t forgotten about the storylines from the past. Currently airing, Teen Titans Go is DC’s longest-running animated show and doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon, earning it the title of “daily soup.” Still, DC fans are eager to find out what became of the original versions of these characters from the cartoon. One of the original voice actors has even expressed hope that the original Teen Titans might make a comeback.
The most recent appearance of the Titans team was in the animated movie titled “Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans”, where the original characters engaged with their more peculiar counterparts. This team wasn’t present in “Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 3”, but the animated movie suggested that the Titans might not have survived the destruction of multiple universes. As James Gunn’s DCU commences with the debut of MAX’s “Creature Commandos”, fans are curious if Robin and his team will reappear. Fortunately, one voice actor remains optimistic that we haven’t witnessed the last of these teenage Titans.

Tara Strong on Teen Titans
Tara Strong has been a well-known voice actress in animation for quite some time now, and she’s particularly famous for her roles in ‘Teen Titans’ and its spinoff ‘Teen Titans Go!’. In these shows, she voices Raven, one of the main characters, as well as other characters like Jinx, Gizmo, Elasti-Girl, and more. Recently, in an interview, Strong expressed her hope for a revival of the original series, despite ‘Teen Titans Go!’ continuing to produce new episodes.
It’d be fantastic to bring back the sixth season for the most dedicated, worthy fans who’ve been waiting for generations, as I believe the story of the Teen Titans needs to continue being told. There’s a wealth of stories from the comics that could be explored if the animated series were to resume production. With shows like Animaniacs and X-Men ’97 returning, it seems the Teen Titans have a solid fanbase eager for more adventures with Robin, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Starfire.
Teen Titans Whoa
It looks like enjoying either “Teen Titans” or “Teen Titans Go!” might become challenging by the end of 2024, as it seems MAX is planning to remove both shows from their lineup. It’s uncertain at this point whether these animated series will find a new home on another streaming platform. Along with the cancellation of Teen Titans, popular DC animated series such as “Green Lantern: The Animated Series” and “Static Shock” are also set to disappear. If you’re keen on rewatching these superhero shows, you should do so quickly before they vanish from MAX.
