Given the Movie: Hiiragi Mix Finally Joins Crunchyroll’s Library
Ever since its debut in July 2019, the Japanese BL series “Given” has steadily gained popularity both domestically and internationally. However, unlike its predecessor which was shown globally upon its theater release in January 2024, titled “Hiiragi Mix“, it wasn’t made available outside of Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Hong Kong initially. Consequently, the global fan base has eagerly anticipated its streaming release.
Title suggests that “Given the Movie: Hiiragi Mix” primarily explores the friendship dynamic between Mafuyu and her two long-time friends, Hiiragi and Shizusumi. According to Crunchyroll’s description of the film, it goes as follows: “After Ritsuka Uenoyama listens to Mafuyu Sato sing, he invites her to join his band. The duo auditions for a festival in Shibuya but falls short, yet they still manage to garner attention. Simultaneously, Mafuyu’s childhood friends, Shizusumi Yagi and Hiiragi Kashima, are gearing up for their band “syh” debut. Unfortunately, they lose a guitarist, prompting Hiiragi to ask Ritsuka to join them for their major performance.
The “Hiiragi Mix” is a component of a two-part film series, with the second one, titled “To the Sea,” having premiered in Japanese cinemas on September 20th, 2024, and being announced as the concluding movie of the popular franchise. It’s hoped that since “Hiiragi Mix” is now available on Crunchyroll, it won’t be much longer before the final movie of the “Given” series also becomes accessible for streaming, allowing fans eagerly awaiting the emotional climax to enjoy it worldwide.
