Rurouni Kenshin Drops Season 2 Part 2 Trailer: Watch

As a long-time fan who’s witnessed the evolution of Kenshin Himura from a ruthless Battosai to a peace-loving wanderer, I can confidently say that the latest Rurouni Kenshin anime remake has been nothing short of exhilarating. The Kyoto Disturbance Arc, with its epic showdown between Kenshin and Shishio, has breathed new life into this beloved franchise.

The story of the Battosai recently made a comeback thanks to Liden films with their latest Rurouni Kenshin anime remake. Following a successful first season, a second season was confirmed that focused on one of the most popular arcs of the shonen franchise, the Kyoto Disturbance Arc. Pitting Kenshin against another former Battosai in Shishio, the second season premiered this previous fall season and is already preparing for the second half of season two to arrive next year. Accompanying some big new casting reveals, a new trailer has arrived hinting at what is in store for the former man slayer who now refuses to take a life.

For individuals who haven’t delved into this recent season yet, let me summarize the plot of the Kyoto Disturbance Arc in Rurouni Kenshin. In the tumultuous Bakumatsu Era, Kenshin Himura, once a dreaded figure known as “Hitokiri Battosai,” vowed never to take a life again and now lives peacefully in the new era as a wanderer. On May 14th, Meiji 11, one of the “Three Great Nobles of the Restoration,” Toshimichi Okubo, was assassinated. Unbeknownst to many, Makoto Shishio orchestrated this event with the intent of overthrowing the Meiji government. Moved by these events, Kenshin bids farewell to Kaoru Kamiya and embarks for Kyoto, where he plans to confront Makoto Shishio, who shares the same title “Hitokiri Battosai” as himself.

The Controversy of Kenshin

The original comic book series “Rurouni Kenshin” has been ongoing since its start, however, it took a break indefinitely last year. At this year’s Jump Festa event, it was revealed that the manga will resume publication in the spring of 2025, but not everyone is pleased with this news. The creator of Kenshin, Nobuhiro Watsuki, was arrested for child pornography possession in 2018, which has left many surprised that he would continue producing new chapters of the manga.

To counteract Watsuki’s actions, Howard Wang, the voice actor for Kenshin, had previously pledged to give a substantial amount of his earnings from the anime series to charitable organizations. Here’s what he stated earlier: “Regarding the elephant in the room, yes, I am fully cognizant of the author’s transgressions and do not endorse or back those actions in any manner. Consequently, a share of all my Kenshin earnings are being directed towards charitable causes.
