As a die-hard Blue Exorcist fan who’s been following this incredible anime since its inception back in 2011, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming “Blue Night Saga”! The fact that we’re getting not one but TWO cours of new episodes in such a short span is simply mind-blowing. I mean, who would have thought that after waiting six long years for season 2, we’d now be experiencing a rapid release schedule?
In the upcoming “Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga,” the thrilling exploits of anime’s beloved Satan’s son will persist, marking the second half of the fourth season of this widely-loved shonen anime. At Jump Festa, a fresh poster for The Blue Night Saga was unveiled, hinting that the new episodes will start broadcasting on Japanese TV from January 4th, 2025. Renowned rock band Amazarashi will contribute to the opening music, while singer Shiyui will create the ending theme. The initial part of season 4, titled “Beyond the Snow Saga,” debuted during the fall of 2024.
For “The Blue Night Saga”, the latest promotional material provides fresh insights into what lies ahead for the anime series. This includes the revelation of new dangers that brothers Rin and Yukio will encounter during the second half of the season, as depicted by a poster adorned in shades of blue, symbolizing the night associated with it. The poster subtly suggests the brothers’ origins and birth.
Blue Exorcist’s 12-Year Road to Adaptation
Fans of “Blue Exorcist” are typically accustomed to long waits between seasons. The first one premiered back in 2011 with 25 episodes and an additional OVA. The show was a hit, but it took six years for the second season to arrive in 2017, consisting of just 12 episodes. After another seven-year gap, the third season aired in January 2024. However, the interval between the third and fourth seasons is significantly shorter.
In the same year, I witnessed the commencement of the fourth season for “Blue Exorcist” in October, marking the shortest production timeline thus far in this anime series. Prior to this, A-1 Pictures had been responsible for the first two seasons, but the production mantle was then passed onto Studio VOLN. Since their takeover, they’ve ensured a more regular and consistent release schedule for the anime. Currently, the “Blue Exorcist” manga continues its run, having temporarily paused due to the creator’s illness.
