Home Alone star explains unscripted Macaulay Culkin and Joe Pesci mishap

As a seasoned movie critic with decades of film-watching under my belt, I must say that the revelation about Joe Pesci biting Macaulay Culkin during the filming of “Home Alone” has certainly added an interesting layer to this holiday classic.

In some more relaxed wording, it turns out that Joe Pesci, famous for his role in Home Alone, may have shown a bit too much intensity during the making of this beloved holiday movie, according to a few recent conversations he’s had.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Daniel Stern, known for portraying the character Marv, revealed that his fellow cast member Joe Pesci, who played Harry, had in fact bitten Macaulay Culkin’s finger. To clarify, this incident occurred, and Pesci quickly apologized immediately afterward.

And it was that thinking that prompted Pesci to bite Culkin.

“Then he bit it — like, ‘Oh crap, I didn’t really mean to.’ Joe was like, ‘Ah, sorry I did that.’”

That was the only time Pesci broke character, according to Stern.

It was Culkin himself who made the admission during a recent interview with the New York Times, to which Pesci declined to comment.

The Kevin actor explained that he was feigning fear, believing it would aid in the charade of a robber-victim scenario. At the age of 10, he portrayed a young boy who protected his home from burglary during the Christmas season, as his family unwittingly left for Paris without him.

“He was like, ‘I want to be menacing to this kid.’”

Culkin went on to reveal that he even has a scar from the mishap.

I caught sight of his expression, and it was clear that I had never before witnessed Joe Pesci looking truly frightened. He exclaimed in shock, ‘I just accidentally bit a child!’

Additionally, Culkin shared that he’s often found himself considering buying the Winnetka house, which served as the film’s backdrop, whenever it went on sale throughout the years.

“I had half a mind to buy it — just for giggles,” he added.
