As a long-time wrestling aficionado who’s seen more smackdowns than I can count, it’s always a thrill to see the return of beloved figures like Julia Hart and Adam “Edge” Copeland. Hart’s been out for a while due to injury, but she’s back with a vengeance, ready to reclaim her throne in AEW’s women’s division. And Edge? Well, he’s been through the ringer, but as they say, once an Edge, always an Edge!
At the AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen event, Julia Hart is set to face off against a past AEW Women’s World Title holder.
Last week’s episode of “Dynamite” saw Hart revisit the scene after Jamie Hayter’s bout with Willow Nightingale. These two competitors were vying for a place in the final round of the Wrestle Dynasty International Women’s Cup. As the arena fell into darkness, The Princess of the Black Throne made her entrance, glaring at Hayter. In an instant, she assaulted Hayter before exiting the ring to thunderous applause.
After the incident, Hayter issued a challenge to the previous TBS Champion for a bout. AEW swiftly agreed to this match, which will transpire during the Fight for the Fallen episode on AEW Dynamite in January. This event marks the beginning of their streaming era with the new MAX deal. Given that Hart’s comeback match is scheduled here, it seems logical as they aim to attract maximum attention and viewer engagement.
Hart is adored by AEW fans and there’s been a noticeable void in the women’s division since her absence. Her last bout took place at AEW Dynasty in April, but prior to that, she was dealing with an injury. Despite this setback, she was resolute about ensuring her match with Willow Nightingale ran smoothly, even relinquishing the title and taking some time away for recovery.
Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, rumors suggest that the upcoming show might mark the long-anticipated comeback of Adam Copeland, who last wrestled at AEW Double or Nothing. Unfortunately, he broke his tibia, but he’s now been given the green light to resume training again. The event is scheduled in Asheville, North Carolina, which happens to be Copeland’s hometown and where former AEW Tag Team champs FTR are also based. The proceeds from this event will be donated to families who were displaced during Hurricane Helene earlier this year.
In September, Copeland shared with ComicBook that his recovery was not yet complete. He expressed that he needed more time to regain full mobility, strength, and explosiveness. Even simple movements like going under a Leapfrog were still challenging for him as his foot didn’t fully extend.
“You know, it’s a work in progress. But with injuries, especially as we age, the healing process can become uncertain – will it heal quickly? Will it heal well? These are questions I have. Fortunately, so far, it seems like my healing is proceeding as expected.
Stay tuned to ComicBook for news and updates on AEW.
