As someone who has been swept away by the whirlwind that is Dandadan, I can confidently say that my Thursdays will never be the same without this captivating anime gracing our screens. The first season was an exhilarating rollercoaster ride filled with humor, action, emotion, and a dash of terror – all expertly packaged in a unique blend only Dandadan could provide.
I’ll really miss the thrill of Thursdays as they won’t have new episodes of Dandadan until Season 2. The recently released anime adaptation based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s acclaimed Shonen Jump+ manga has been a sensation among fans and critics alike. Over the course of its first 12 episodes, viewers joined Okarun and Momo on their quest to retrieve Okarun’s stolen kintama, pursuing aliens and spirits along the way. The series seamlessly switched between hilarious comedy, intense action sequences, poignant flashbacks, and chilling moments of terror. However, the opening theme always promised an exciting experience ahead.
As a devoted fan, I can’t hide my excitement about Okarun and Momo making their comeback in the upcoming season! However, it’s bittersweet news that we must bid farewell to the remarkable opening theme from Season 1 – the enchanting “Otonoke” by Creepy Nuts. This tune ignited our hearts with each new episode, serving as a beacon that welcomed us into the captivating world of Dandadan since the pilot. Remember how the show opened cold with the OP in Episode 1? Well, that was “Otonoke,” and we’ve grown incredibly fond of it.
Dandadan Fans Are Mourning “Otonoke”
It’s never easy to part ways with something wonderful, which is why followers of the anime “Dandadan” have been expressing their sorrow on social media after the last episode aired. The theme song “Otonoke,” which was used in the opening credits, has sparked a wave of emotions among fans. On X (formerly Twitter), there have been numerous posts sharing affection for “Otonoke” as the show’s OP, with some even pleading for the track to remain as the OP throughout the entire series.
As I perused the announcements regarding Season 2 of Netflix’s upcoming release (set for July 2025), I found myself pondering @aightdom’s question: “Shall we maintain Otonoke as the opening theme throughout its entire runtime?” Similarly, @SurrealGravity echoed this sentiment, expressing their concern: “I can hardly fathom how they could possibly surpass Otonoke.” Delve deeper into the comments section to uncover additional responses.
As a keen observer, I must express my preference for maintaining the opening animation sequence featuring Otonoke. While I understand and support any potential changes to the opening animation, I strongly advocate for making an exception in this case. The current OP has an exceptional ability to encapsulate the vibrant energy of the anime, and it’s been a long time since one has resonated so perfectly with its animanga counterpart. Frankly, I can’t envision any other opening surpassing its impact.

The first season of “Dandadan” concluded after its 12th episode on December 19th, and it’s rather doubtful that the popular theme song will carry over into Season 2. With Season 2 set to premiere within the next six months, keep an eye out for the announcement of the new opening and closing themes in the upcoming months.
No more otonoke

Dandadan Season 2 Releases in 2025
This year’s Jump Festa anime festival in Tokyo was filled with exciting announcements. The enthusiasts of “Dandadan” were thrilled to learn that Season 2 is expected within the next year (while many other popular shows are still awaiting renewal after more than 2 years). Nevertheless, a key point remains unanswered: will the anime’s upcoming season offer an opening theme as captivating and engaging as “Otonoke”?
I’m absolutely thrilled to share that the upcoming season is going to breathe life into both the Cursed House and Evil Eye storylines from the manga! This means we’ll encounter one of the scariest antagonists ever, and I can hardly contain my excitement! The final episode of Season 1 laid a tantalizing foundation for the Cursed House Arc. However, some fellow fans might have felt a bit let down by how much of the arc was left hanging for Season 2’s grand reveal.
