Pokémon Go Holiday Part 2: Collection Challenge explained

As a lifelong Pokémon enthusiast who can remember when the first game was released, I must say that the Holiday Part 2 Collection Challenges in Pokémon Go are both exciting and daunting. Having spent countless hours catching, training, and battling with my beloved pocket monsters, I find myself drawn into this festive event like a moth to a flame.

There’s not much time remaining before the Pokémon Go Holiday Part 2 Collection Challenges event concludes at 8pm on December 27th, so you should wrap things up soon!

Consequently, this continues from Pokémon Go Holiday Part 1, where players faced a challenging decision between following Spark’s or Sierra’s paths.

This season is particularly bustling, yet dedicated Pokémon enthusiasts wouldn’t dream of missing out on any of the perks available by accomplishing the Collection Challenges during this holiday celebration.

Keep on reading and we’ll run through all the Collection Challenges in Pokémon Go Holiday Part 2!

Pokémon Go Holiday Part 2: Collection Challenge explained

In the Holiday Part 2 update for Pokémon Go, there are three Collection Challenges to conquer – Dark, Light, and Grayscale.

The deadline to finish these tasks has been set for this coming Friday, the 27th of December, at 8 PM sharp. Let’s get right to it and avoid delay.

Below is a full breakdown of what you need to do!

Black Collection Challenge

To complete this challenge, you need to catch Alolan Rattata, Blitzle, Murkrow and Snorlax.

The reward for finding them is 1,500 Stardust and an encounter with Pancham.

Hurry up and explore your neighborhood right away, as you might discover Alolan Rattata, Blitzle, and Murkrow roaming around in the wild before time runs out!

With Blitzle, you might stumble upon an Incense encounter on the 22nd, 24th, or 26th of December. At present, you can acquire Blitzle as a reward for completing Research tasks such as catching ten Pokémon or exploring 2 kilometers.

On the 22nd, 24th, and 26th of December, there’s a possibility for Snorlax to appear near you through an Incense encounter. If that doesn’t happen, you’ll need to challenge Snorlax in a three-star Raid Battle instead!

White Collection Challenge

For the White challenge, you need to catch Alolan Vulpix, Cetoddle, Tynamo and Vanillite.

The reward for doing so? That would be 1,500 Stardust and an encounter with Furfrou.

Tynamo can be found in the wild. Here’s hoping it spawns nice and easily for you!

For Alolan Vulpix, you’ll have to win a 1-Star Raid.

1-Star Raids are where you can discover Cetoddle as well. Alternatively, you can come across one by using Incense on the 23rd, 25th, and 27th of December, or if you complete a Research task that involves using an Incense during the event.

You can find Vanillite in its natural habitat too! Here are some research suggestions if you’re having trouble locating it: ‘Snap photos of three distinct wild Ice-type Pokemon’ or ‘Capture five Pokemon that have a Weather Bonus’.

Monochrome Collection Challenge

Lastly, you have to capture not just one but both Cetoddle and Wooloo to successfully finish the Monochrome Collection Challenge.

This occasion offers you 10 Great Balls and 10 Ultra Balls, plus a substantial boost in emotional satisfaction (though it’s not a promise).

Hey there fellow gamer! Just wanted to drop a quick update about Cetoddle – he’s hanging out in 1-Star Raids right now. Now, if you’re feeling lucky, don’t forget to use your Incense on the 23rd, 25th, and 27th of December! You might just stumble upon a Cetoddle encounter. Oh, and by the way, doing that Research task ‘Use an Incense’ could also bring you face-to-face with our friendly little buddy, Cetoddle!

Concerning Wooloo, they can be discovered in the wild, or by using Incense (which is also available on the 23rd, 25th, and 27th of December).
