The eerie silence of the Yoshiwara red light district was broken only by the sound of my own heart pounding as I stumbled upon a series of bizarre and gruesome murders. Can I unravel the mysteries shrouding these killings, navigate the dangerous alleys of this ancient city, and ultimately find my way back to the comforts of my modern gaming setup? Let’s see if I have what it takes to be the hero in this historical thriller.
The central character (or the player) is a 17-year-old chap named Kotaro, residing in contemporary Japan. Suddenly, he’s engulfed by a strange supernatural occurrence in Shibuya and faints. Upon regaining consciousness, he discovers himself in a realm that appears reminiscent of a traditional Japanese drama series.
In modern terms, Kotaro is informed by an entity he perceives as “God” that he’s now a spirit residing in Edo, the 19th-century capital of Japan, specifically in the Yoshiwara red light district. His physical body has ceased to exist, and the reasons for his time travel and the path to the afterlife are unknown. As a result, Kotaro embarks on a journey through the streets of Yoshiwara, seeking answers to unravel this enigma.
In time, he comes across the slaying of a courtesan, assuming the position of an investigator to unravel the mystery. Yet, it isn’t long before a string of peculiar murders cross his path…
