From the very start, Damian has tirelessly striven for his family’s recognition. Unfortunately, each member seems distant from one another, and Damian yearns deeply for their affection. He sometimes feels that his mother doesn’t care about him in the least. However, Anya possesses a unique ability to read minds. In Chapter 75, she finds Melinda’s thoughts concerning Damian puzzling. Post the bus hijack incident, Melinda rushes towards Damian, weeping tears of relief upon finding him safe.

It appears to Anya that the woman’s feelings towards her son mirror those of Yuri, leading her to believe they are similar in this regard. Yet, upon hearing mention of her spouse, the woman becomes hostile, and her thoughts swiftly darken to the point where she secretly wishes Damian had perished during the hijacking. This internal dialogue of hers is filled with contradictions as she’s unable to determine whether she feels joy after seeing him safe or not. She wants to get close to Damian but is helpless against Donnavan’s warning. Anya and Yor meet her and the former easily realizes Melinda’s true feelings. She tells Damian that his mother actually loves him, and even Yor chimes in. Damian runs away after blushing but it’s clear he’s genuinely happy about it. Loid’s mission relies heavily on the friendship scheme and Anya’s message to Damian has a positive impact on their friendship. Anya and Yor are both getting closer to the Desmond Family, which will surely aid Loid in the grand scheme of Spy x Family’s Operation Strix to broker peace through Donovan.
