Jet Set Radio Reboot News Teased for 2025

As a die-hard Jet Set Radio fan since its original release back in 2000, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of a new installment in this iconic series. Having grown up with the vibrant graffiti-filled streets of Tokyo-to, and the thrilling gameplay that made it a cult classic, any news about a reboot is music to my ears. The fact that the original director Masayoshi Kikuchi and designer Ryuta Ueda are involved in the new project only adds fuel to the fire.

Having followed Sega’s announcements over the years, I can attest that they have a knack for delivering high-quality games, and with the 25th anniversary of Jet Set Radio coming up in 2025, I believe this will be the perfect opportunity to showcase what the series has always been about – fast-paced action, unique visuals, and an unforgettable soundtrack.

While it’s unfortunate that Ryuta Ueda had to take time off due to parental leave, I fully support him and understand the importance of family. I have a feeling that his passion for Jet Set Radio will shine through once he returns to work on the game.

I eagerly await any official word from Sega regarding this exciting project, and I can’t help but think that maybe they’ll even throw us a bone with a surprise reveal in their upcoming Direct presentation. Who knows, maybe we’ll be dancing on the streets of Tokyo-to once again by the end of 2024!

Oh, and just for a little humor, I can’t help but wonder if this new game will feature a “Graffiti Dad” mode where you have to balance tagging walls with changing diapers… now that would be something I never thought I’d say! 😄

It appears that there might be updates about Sega’s remake of Jet Set Radio in 2025. At the end of 2023, Sega announced they were working on new versions of Jet Set Radio, as well as other revivals for franchises such as Virtua Fighter, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. However, not much information has been shared about most of these projects yet, leaving fans curious. If a recent hint is anything to go by, it seems that 2025 could offer a sneak peek into what the remake of this series will entail.

4Gamer had a chat with Masayoshi Kikuchi, director of both the original Jet Set Radio and its upcoming reboot. At present, work on the project continues. As we approach 2025, which will mark the 25th anniversary of Jet Set Radio, Kikuchi expressed his desire to celebrate this milestone in some way. Although he didn’t explicitly confirm it, it seems possible that any celebrations might involve elements related to the upcoming Jet Set Radio title.

Kikuchi mentioned that he’s still developing a fresh take on the ‘Jet Set Radio’ series. Coincidentally, 2025 will be the 25th anniversary of ‘Jet Set Radio’, so he’s brainstorming ideas for a suitable celebration.

4Gamer also had a chat with Jet Set Radio designer Ryuta Ueda, who mentioned that his focus on the game in 2025 was limited due to taking parental leave. However, when he did get the chance to work on it, Ueda emphasized that he’s striving to maintain the same essence as the original game.

Ueda mentioned that he’s contributing to the latest iteration of ‘Jet Set Radio’. Although this year has been busy with his child’s birth, making it challenging for him to fully participate, he’s putting in his best efforts to maintain the essence of the original game. Keep an eye out for upcoming updates!

At the moment, Sega hasn’t announced any official plans regarding the future of Jet Set Radio. However, they recently held a “Direct” presentation focusing on the Virtual Fighter series and its reboot in December. Therefore, it’s possible that an event related to Jet Set Radio could be scheduled in the coming weeks or months.
