As a long-time PlayStation gamer with over two decades of gaming experience under my belt, I have to admit that I was initially quite excited about the January 2025 lineup for PS Plus. After all, last year’s offerings were nothing short of spectacular, with some true gems like It Takes Two and Dead Space gracing our consoles. However, upon seeing the latest selection for the upcoming month, I must confess that my enthusiasm has waned significantly.
The inclusion of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a bit of a head-scratcher, given its less-than-stellar reception by critics and gamers alike. While I’m always up for trying new games, especially ones from renowned developers like Rocksteady Studios, it’s hard to shake off the feeling that this game might not be worth my time.
On the other hand, the addition of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe are certainly welcome additions to the lineup. Need for Speed has always been a favorite of mine, and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of some high-performance cars in this remastered version. As for The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, its reputation as an engaging, thought-provoking game with endless replayability makes it an intriguing choice for PS Plus subscribers.
All in all, while the January 2025 lineup for PS Plus might not be the most exciting selection I’ve ever seen, there are certainly some diamonds in the rough that I’m looking forward to checking out. And who knows, maybe Suicide Squad will surprise me and end up being a hidden gem after all!
Oh, and as an added bonus, I can’t help but chuckle at the irony of getting a game called Suicide Squad for free on PS Plus… talk about a twist of fate, eh?
Tokyo”, “Dead Space”, “WWE 2K24”, and “Aliens: Dark Descent” being added to the service towards the end of the year. As we kick off 2025, it’s clear which games will be available for PS Plus subscribers in January, and some players might find this lineup less exciting compared to the previous offerings.
Starting January 7th and running through February 3rd, PlayStation Plus members can grab three free games: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe . Among these titles, Suicide Squad stands out as it was only released about a year ago. However, it’s important to note that this game hasn’t been warmly received by critics, making its inclusion in the PlayStation Plus lineup an attempt to attract new players with a bit of a long shot.
Speaking of “Need for Speed” and “The Stanley Parable”, these games offered on PlayStation Plus tend to be preferred by players. “Hot Pursuit Remastered” is an updated version of a highly cherished installment in the Need for Speed franchise, while “The Stanley Parable” has garnered acclaim for its exceptional writing and virtually limitless replay value. Although some PlayStation Plus subscribers might not be thrilled about receiving “Suicide Squad”, it’s challenging to be displeased with these other two picks.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe represents an enlarged, innovative reinvention of the highly praised, honored independent game The Stanley Parable, initially released in 2013.
In essence, everything from the initial release of “Stanley Parable” in 2013 remains intact in this updated version, “The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.” However, it’s not just a reproduction; this new edition significantly enlarges the world of the original game. You’ll find fresh content, additional choices, and hidden mysteries waiting to be discovered. Essentially, the maze has grown even more complex.
Furthermore, the game’s graphics have been enhanced to match contemporary tech standards, yet it maintains the authentic atmosphere of the initial game. Notably, accessibility enhancements have been incorporated into the game as well, such as translating in-game text, accommodations for colorblind users, and warnings about potentially distressing content.
