A Marvel Hero and a Disgraced MCU Villain Are Working Together Against The Avengers

In the year 2024, Earth’s strongest heroes, collectively known as The Avengers, find themselves grappling with more than just a typical villain from the Marvel Universe. Alongside their usual adversary, they must also confront an unexpected ally within their own ranks.

The Tribulation Events and the enigma of the Missing Moment in time have been looming over Earth since then, causing chaos and alarm among the heroes. Kang the Conqueror has provided the Avengers with information about these events, but his motives are far from benevolent.

Meanwhile, the Avengers have been preoccupied with other pressing matters such as the Blood Hunt and the Fall of X. However, they’re now shifting their focus back to the Missing Moment. The challenge lies in the fact that Kang is also keenly interested in this enigma, and he has an unexpected accomplice aiding him.

In issue #22 of the “Avengers,” the talented team of Jed MacKay, Farid Karami, Federico Blee, and VC’s Cory Petit take the helm. The Avengers are hot on the trail of the elusive Missing Moment belonging to Scarlet Witch. A data archive previously in the possession of Kang the Conqueror is being auctioned off at the Grandmaster’s cosmic casino. Unable to purchase the data, the Avengers devise a plan to steal it instead. As they near their objective, they unexpectedly find that someone else has already made off with the prize – none other than Kang the Conqueror and Marvel’s agile thief, Black Cat.

Black Cat and Kang make a formidable team

In a daring attempt, The Avengers came very close to executing the flawless theft. Storm and Scarlet Witch stirred confusion by reigniting an ancient feud between mutants, while Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and Sam Wilson’s Captain America attempted to make off with the Missing Moment data. They successfully broke into the Grandmaster’s vault, but were disheartened to find it devoid of any content. Iron Man deduced that someone had managed to grab the archive ahead of them, and when Vision scanned the crowd, facial recognition pointed towards Nathaniel Richards, also known as Kang the Conqueror.

Kang isn’t working alone; Walter Hardy, a burglar known to be dead, is also part of his crew. It seems that Kang is manipulating the timestream to bring in a time-traveling version of Walter Hardy to aid him in his operations. If you’re planning a heist, why not have the best on your team? This situation raises questions about whether we’re dealing with the current Black Cat or one that has been displaced through time.

As a longtime fan of the Marvel universe, I’ve always been fascinated by the complex dynamics between Iron Man and Black Cat. From my perspective, it seems that their history runs deep, with Black Cat pulling off a daring heist at Stark Unlimited, a move that has left an indelible mark on Tony Stark’s life. Fast forward to her creation of the Iron Cat armor, and you have a recipe for intrigue that never fails to captivate me.

Now, seeing Black Cat with Kang has set off alarm bells in my mind. As a seasoned observer of these characters, I can’t help but feel that this reunion spells trouble for Iron Man once again. The pattern is all too familiar: the initial attraction, the betrayal, and the lingering suspicion. It’s a dance that has played out numerous times in the comics, and I can’t help but wonder how it will unfold in the next chapter of their story.

In my opinion, Iron Man’s life is about to take another unexpected turn with Black Cat back on the scene, and as always, it promises to be a thrilling ride for fans like myself.

Kang the Conqueror’s fall from grace in the MCU

In the comic book series Timeless #1, published by Marvel in 2022, they introduced Kang the Conqueror on a quest for the Missing Moment. This was timed to coincide with his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, set for release in 2023. Played by Jonathan Majors, Kang had been positioned as the next major antagonist for the Multiverse Saga. The story was planned to reach its climax with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, but Majors’ legal issues disrupted these plans.

As a long-time Marvel fan, I find myself rather disheartened by the recent developments surrounding Jonathan Majors and his role as Kang in the MCU. Having grown up watching the Avengers and their epic battles against various villains, it’s always exciting to see new characters being introduced and old favorites returning for more action-packed adventures. However, news of Majors’ guilty verdict for assault and harassment has left me feeling conflicted about his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios’ swift decision to cut ties with Majors was a clear indication that they take such matters seriously, which I greatly appreciate. But it also means that Kang’s short tenure in the MCU is coming to an end, and I can’t help but wonder what this means for the future of the franchise.

The decision to recast Kang down the line with someone like Colman Domingo could potentially bring a fresh perspective to the character, but it’s hard not to feel a sense of loss for the potential storylines that might have been had Majors remained in the role. For now, it seems that the MCU future isn’t looking particularly bright for Kang, and I can only hope that Marvel finds a way to salvage the character in some way.

As a fan, I understand that actors are human beings with their own flaws and mistakes, but it’s important for me to support a studio that takes a strong stance against abuse and violence. It’s a difficult situation, but ultimately, I believe that Marvel is making the right decisions in prioritizing the safety and well-being of those involved in their productions.

As a die-hard movie fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Black Cat among Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, as hinted by the cover of Avengers #22. However, it seems that her joining may not be happening just yet. The Grandmaster seems to have his eyes on the Avengers, Kang, and Black Cat, a situation largely orchestrated by Myrddin, who’s been manipulating a cosmic game with the Avengers, Kang, and Black Cat as his pawns. This power play between Myrddin and Grandmaster was first introduced in Timeless #1, where Myrddin and his Twilight Court were revealed as adversaries to Kang. Since then, they’ve managed to stay one step ahead in the hunt for the Missing Moment.

It’s quite possible that Myrddin might turn out to be a variation of Kang, or even one of his adversaries such as Doctor Doom. In this case, it would signify yet another situation where Doctor Doom assumes the role previously held by Kang the Conqueror.
