So, mark your calendars and get ready for a theatrical extravaganza like no other! And remember, they say laughter is the best medicine, so don’t forget to book tickets for “Nye” – who knows, you might just find time travel is covered under your NHS plan!

What celebrities are West End theatre shows in 2025?
Vanessa Williams in The Devil Wears Prada
- Until 18th Oct 2025 – Dominion Theatre
In a fresh take on the popular film from 2006, Vanessa Williams plays Miranda Priestly. The storyline revolves around Andy Sachs, an authentic journalist who lands a position at the most influential fashion magazine globally – Runway.
Having worked as a second assistant to an Editor-in-Chief, I can attest that it’s not all glitz and glamour as it may appear from the outside. Andy, my character in this story, finds herself swept up in a whirlwind of high fashion and demanding bosses, a far cry from her simple life before. At first, she struggles to adapt, finding the world she’s now immersed in alien and overwhelming.
However, as time passes, the allure of this fast-paced lifestyle begins to seep into Andy’s soul. The once humble assistant starts to lose herself in the glamour, seduced by the power and prestige that comes with her new position. It’s a classic tale of temptation and self-discovery, one that I found both captivating and thought-provoking as I navigated my own career path. Steve Coogan and Armando Iannucci come together again for a comedic stage production titled “Dr Strangelove.” This play is inspired by the 1964 satirical war film, and it tells a story about an American general who threatens global disaster when he orders an attack on the Soviet Union.

Brie Larson in Elektra

In this classic tale of woe, Brie Larson takes center stage, with the narrative crafted by poet Anne Carson and brought to life by director Daniel Fish. The story revolves around Elektra’s relentless pursuit for justice when her father Agamemnon is slain, and her brother Orestes comes home to grieve. As is typical of Greek tragedies, the narrative swiftly escalates into a cycle of revenge and violence.
Have you encountered Brie Larson previously, perhaps recognizing her as Captain Marvel from the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Or maybe you’ve seen her win an Oscar for her part in Room or noticed her in movies like Lessons in Chemistry and 21 Jump Street?
Rami Malek and Indira Varma in Oedipus
- 27th Jan – 29th Mar 2025 – Old Vic Theatre
Nowadays, Oedipus is most famously associated with Freudian psychology, but originally, the character is a protagonist in a Greek tragedy penned by Sophocles. The narrative unfolds around Oedipus (Rami Malek), a man who unknowingly takes the throne after slaying his father and marrying his mother, Jocasta (Indira Varma). As he learns the horrifying truth of his actions, Oedipus is plagued by guilt. And, considering it’s over 2,500 years old, perhaps we can consider it a spoiler-free story?
Have you recognized Rami Malek from Bohemian Rhapsody, Mr Robot, No Time to Die, Night at the Museum, or any other film? Indira Varma is known for her roles in Torchwood, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, and a recent Macbeth production with Ralph Fiennes. Did these shows or movies ring a bell?
Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan in Unicorn
- 4th Feb – 26th Apr 2025 – Garrick Theatre
In a new stage play penned by Mike Bartlett, the stars of Split, Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan, will join forces again. This upcoming production, presented by Unicorn, introduces us to Polly (Walker) and Nick (Mangan), a seemingly perfect couple with two children and thriving careers. However, they sense a void in their lives, even though they are happily married. A chance meeting with the character Kate, played by Erin Doherty from The Crown, could potentially bring the “spark” they’ve been missing.
Have I encountered Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan in any previous productions?

Have you encountered Jonathan Bailey somewhere recently? Given his prominent roles in recent television and film productions, it’s hard to say where you haven’t seen him. As Henry prepares to reveal his newest architectural marvel, an unanticipated guest disrupts their already tense relationship.

In this compelling 1950s drama about love versus loyalty, Tamsin Greig plays Hester Collyer. As the daughter of a clergyman and the wife of a judge, Hester finds herself entangled in a forbidden love that ultimately proves unsuccessful.
Have you encountered Tamsin Greig elsewhere? She’s particularly recognized from her part as Jackie in the comedy series Friday Night Dinner. Additionally, she has appeared in Black Books, Green Wing, and The Imaginary Adventures of Dick Turpin.
