ITV changes today’s TV schedule after Luke Littler makes darts final

As a sports enthusiast who has followed the darting world for many years, I am absolutely thrilled to witness the incredible journey of young Luke Littler. Having grown up watching legends like Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen dominate the sport, it’s heartening to see a fresh talent like Luke emerge onto the scene with such promise.

I still remember the excitement when he reached the final of the PDC World Championship last year, narrowly missing out on the title but being named Young Sports Personality of the Year. His dedication and determination are truly inspiring, and I can’t help but feel a sense of pride watching him take on the three-time champion Michael van Gerwen this time around.

Watching Luke grow from a promising youngster to a formidable competitor has been an absolute joy, and I can’t wait to see how he fares against one of the greats in darts. His humility and grace under pressure are qualities that set him apart, and I have no doubt that he will give Michael van Gerwen a run for his money.

I must admit, it’s refreshing to see ITV1 recognizing the achievements of young talents like Luke by showing his Bullseye appearance today instead of their usual programming. It’s a testament to the power of sports and its ability to bring people together, and I hope that this recognition helps inspire more young athletes to follow in Luke’s footsteps.

Finally, let me end with a little joke: I always say that darts is like life – you can’t win them all, but it’s the ones you do win that make the journey worthwhile! Good luck, Luke, and may the best player win!

17-year-old British darts sensation Luke Littler is making history as he advances to the finals of the PDC World Championship for the second consecutive year, and ITV1 is adjusting its programming today to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment.

2024 saw me nominated for the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year award, a recognition I truly cherished. Although I fell just short, finishing runner-up to the remarkable 800m Olympian, Keely Hodgkinson, the honor of being named the Young Sports Personality of the Year still left me absolutely thrilled!

Currently, he’ll be going head-to-head against Dutch opponent Michael van Gerwen, a three-time PDC World Championship winner, with his most recent victory taking place in 2019.

In honor of Littler’s triumph, ITV1 and ITVX will replay his Bullseye episode at 4 PM today. This scheduling change moves Deal or No Deal to an earlier time slot at 3 PM, and results in Lingo being temporarily removed from the broadcast schedule.

Today’s schedule update: We are airing #Bullseye at 4 pm on both ITV1 and ITVX in honor of LukeLittler reaching the final. Don’t miss it!

Regarding his upcoming final, Littler shared with BBC Sport that while others seem more excited than him, he would be content if he manages to secure seven set victories.

Michael often finds himself in many final rounds, whereas this is only my second time. Last year, I made some mistakes that I’m confident I can correct this time around. It feels like a dream – everyone aspires to hold a trophy aloft, but you must be at the peak of your abilities to make it happen.

With my years of experience under my belt, I find myself feeling quite at ease and ready to savor the moment as there is no pressure weighing me down. If I can manage to get off to a swift start, it will undoubtedly bring a smile to my face.

Van Gerwen expressed that he’s aware, based on his own experiences, how inspiring a runner-up position can be. However, he aims to ensure that Littler maintains his second position this season, even though some betting odds lean towards the 17-year-old.

Two years back, I was the favorite contender, but I ultimately lost, Van Gerwen reminisced. “Currently, I’m not the favorite anymore, but who knows? Perhaps I’ll be the one to take the title again.
