Dandadan Really Disappointed With Season 1’s Finale

As a seasoned anime enthusiast with over two decades of immersion in this vibrant universe, I have seen my fair share of captivating stories and thrilling cliffhangers. However, the finale of “Dandadan” left me feeling somewhat perplexed and underwhelmed, despite its promising start.

With a richly developed world and intriguing characters, the first eleven episodes had me hooked, but the final episode seemed to fall short in comparison. The abrupt ending on a mystery that didn’t carry enough weight for a season finale felt like a missed opportunity. I couldn’t help but feel that a full 24-episode season would have provided a more satisfying conclusion and possibly avoided this anticlimactic moment.

That being said, the unique charm of Momo, Okarun, Jiji, and their friends still shines brightly in my memory. I eagerly await the second season’s arrival this summer, hoping for a more cohesive narrative that ties up some of these loose ends and delivers on the potential shown in its debut season.

In the meantime, I’ll just have to wait patiently – and perhaps find solace in the fact that at least we won’t have to wait as long as fans of Squid Game did for their second season! After all, who needs a hole in the wall when you can binge-watch anime, right?

In 2024, Dandadan swiftly rose among the top new anime debuts, thanks to Science SARU’s stunning animation and the intriguing narrative penned by creator Yukinobu Tatsu. Over the span of twelve episodes in its initial season, viewers were introduced to Momo, Okarun, Aira, and Jiji, delving into their lives brimming with both supernatural and alien perils. However, the Turbo Granny made a strong start with this first season, but the way Dandadan concluded its first season left some room for improvement.

As someone who has always been deeply invested in anime and manga, I can’t help but feel let down by the ending of Dandadan’s first season finale. With a background that spans decades of following various series, I have come to appreciate the art of storytelling in this medium and understand the importance of a satisfying conclusion. However, the way Dandadan chose to end its story left me feeling unsatisfied, especially compared to the masterful cliffhanger presented in the season two finale of Squid Game.

The decision to end on such a sudden note is always bittersweet for fans, but it’s particularly disappointing when the execution falls short. As we approach the second season focusing on Momo and Okarun, I can’t help but feel that the first season could have ended at a more fitting juncture. While I am excited to continue the story, I can’t shake off the feeling that the abrupt ending of the first season was a missed opportunity to leave audiences with a memorable and impactful closing moment.

The Mystery of The Hole In The Wall

As a long-time fan of this anime series who has read the manga as well, I found myself quite intrigued by the unexpected twist at the end of episode twelve. Momo being surrounded by those sinister villages at the hot springs was certainly a troubling development, but it was Jiji and Okarun’s final moment that left me scratching my head. As someone who has been following this story for quite some time now, I knew where this mysterious scene was leading in the manga, but as an anime viewer, I found myself in the dark about the true nature of this mystery.

I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for the creators to decide when to end season one given the constraints of adapting a popular manga into an anime series. However, the abrupt ending left me feeling somewhat let down, as if the ball had been dropped in the final moments. I eagerly await the next season and hope that they will take the time to flesh out this intriguing plotline further for both manga readers and anime viewers alike.

Previously discussed, the second series of “Dandadan” will premiere this summer. One might ponder if it would’ve been wiser to delay its release until 2024, providing a complete twenty-four episode season instead. However, even if it had debuted in 2025 as a full season, the new anime adaptation would likely still have been successful. The delayed ending serves only as a small criticism in an otherwise outstanding first season, with Momo and Okarun leaving an indelible mark on the anime community.
