Ace Ventura Actor John Capodice Dies at 83

As a follower who has grown up admiring the vast array of roles John Capodice graced our screens with, it is truly heartbreaking to hear of his passing. From Lloyd Lord in Ryan’s Hope to Aguado in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Capodice’s career was nothing short of remarkable.

I remember staying up late to catch him as a guest star on Seinfeld or laughing my socks off during his stint on Blossom. His versatility as an actor was unparalleled, and he had a knack for making each character he portrayed feel uniquely special.

It’s hard not to feel a sense of loss when we think about the roles that will never be played again, but I take comfort in the fact that Capodice left an indelible mark on our hearts and pop culture.

In honor of John Capodice, let’s all raise a glass (or a can of soda, if you prefer) to the memory of a man who made us laugh, cry, and everything in between. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will live on forever.

On a lighter note, I always wondered what happened to Ace Ventura when he went chasing wild animals… I guess we’ll never know now. RIP, John Capodice!

83-year-old actor John Capodice, known for roles in Ace Ventura, Seinfeld, and General Hospital, has sadly passed away. The Pizzi Funeral Home confirmed the news on December 30th, but no cause of death was given (as reported by Deadline). Capodice leaves behind his wife Jane, daughters Tessa and Cassandra, and sisters Kathy and Patti. Our condolences go out to Capodice’s loved ones during this difficult time.

Capodice kicked off his acting career with the part of Lloyd Lord in the successful daytime drama Ryan’s Hope in 1978. Following this, he made appearances on shows such as Spenser: For Hire and The Equalizer. In 1987, he starred as Dominick in Wall Street.

As a dedicated cinephile, I found myself gracing numerous hit TV shows throughout the 80s and 90s. Shows like Moonlighting, Murphy Brown, Knot’s Landing, Hunter, and many more kept me busy on the small screen. Then came my foray into films with Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Fast forward to the ’90s, I was a staple on TV, appearing in shows like Law & Order, Seinfeld, Tales from the Crypt, Blossom, L.A. Law, Melrose Place, and NYPD Blue. These diverse roles eventually led me to the memorable part of Aguado in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

In the television series Speed, Murder, She Wrote, Boy Meets World, and General Hospital (a 6-episode stint as Carmine Cerullo), he appeared, followed by a series of roles in shows such as Mad About You, The Practice, Will & Grace, Angel, The West Wing, Six Feet Under, Everybody Hates Chris, CSI, Wizards of Waverly Place, and Monk. Between these, he made appearances in films like Independence Day.

Throughout his professional journey, Capodice has lent his voice to roles in animated shows and video games as well. These include Aaahh!!!! Real Monsters, Superman: The Animated Series, a collaboration titled The Batman Superman Movie: World’s Finest, Mafia II, and the latest adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

Contributions in honor of Capodice may be given to Rockland Homes for Heroes, as we send our heartfelt sympathies to his loved ones during this difficult period.
