2025 Golden Globes: Ariana Grande Debuts Darker Hair Transformation

Ariana Grande is doing everything that really counts at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Idina Menzel, famed for her role in Wicked, caused quite a stir at the Golden Globes held on January 5, which were hosted by Nikki Glaser. She donned a striking vintage Givenchy Haute Couture gown from 1966, a vibrant yellow number accessorized with white gloves, a sparkling Swarovski choker, and an unexpected hair transformation. Certainly, the popular pop singer recently unveiled a fresh hairstyle, significantly darker than previous ones, styled as a high ponytail instead of her customary Glinda bun. Fans on social media are speculating that this new copper hairdo might be an homage to the character’s hair from The Wizard of Oz.

A fan posted on January 5th that Ariana Grande was accompanied by the original Glinda from ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ and they commented on her hair!

Other observers noted that her stunning vintage dress, with a hint of Audrey Hepburn’s elegance, was not just a beautiful choice but also a clever reference to the yellow brick road in Oz.

On another occasion, the “thank u, next” singer drew inspiration from her inner benevolent sorceress in her choice of attire. At the Australian premiere of the musical movie, Ariana donned a pink Vivienne Westwood ballgown, complete with a voluminous tulle skirt and oversized sleeves – mirroring the outfit worn by Billie Burke, the original kind-hearted Glinda from the 1939 film.

Ariana wasn’t the only one who designed enchanting outfits inspired by “Wicked”. In fact, both Ariana and her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, worked together for months to integrate their characters into their glamorous red carpet looks prior to the release of the stage-to-screen movie. Fortunately for Cynthia, who portrayed Elphaba in the film, she was a fan of the color green beforehand.

In a chat with Vogue last September, the 37-year-old expressed a sentiment that remains unchanged: “I adore it, and I will continue to do so.” When it comes to my role, it has provided me an opportunity to expand my collection of green garments.

Instead, let’s say that in contrast to others, Ariana derived pleasure from altering her appearance as she prepared herself for the most significant role of her career.

Three years ago, during the audition process, I began accumulating many pink items, which wasn’t a significant part of my life before that. To truly embody the character, I felt the need to immerse myself in her DNA and mindset. Now, I find myself deeply appreciating the color pink and feeling as if it’s an integral part of me. I believe this connection will endure uniquely and significantly throughout my life.
