Golden Globes: Ariana Grande Says She’s “a Potato” Without Glam Team

There’s a special group of people who are popular to Ariana Grande.

At the 2025 Golden Globes held on January 5th, the actress from Wicked, who earned her first nomination for Best Supporting Actress in this year’s event alongside Zoe Saldana, Emilia Perez, Selena Gomez, Felicity Jones, and Isabella Rossellini – all nominated for their respective roles in The Brutalist, The Substance, Conclave, and other films – gave a touching acknowledgement to the three individuals who prepared her for the red carpet.

She shared with Zuri Hall of Live From TopMob: Golden Globes, exclusively on the red carpet at Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, “I can’t help but praise my fantastic glam squad. I owe a big thank you to makeup artist Michael Anthony, hair stylist Gabor Kerekes who also worked on my hair for the film, and my stylist, Mimi Cuttrell.

She emphasized her team’s importance, saying, “I couldn’t accomplish anything without them; they make me more than just a potato. They are essential to our success, and I’m deeply appreciative. This morning was filled with laughter and enjoyment.

At the 82nd Golden Globe Awards gala, the “eternal sunshine” singer was indeed a well-known figure. However, her “Wicked” co-stars, including Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Ethan Slater (her boyfriend of a year), were equally significant contributors to the lively atmosphere of the event, which was hosted by Nikki Glaser.

It turns out that Cynthia is nominated for an award herself – the Best Actress in a Motion Picture category. She’s competing against Mikey Madison from Anora, Amy Adams from Nightb—h, Zendaya from The Challengers, Demi Moore from The Substance, and Karla Sofía Gascón from Emilia Perez.

In the meantime, the movie “Wicked” received two extra nominations – one for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and another for Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. As for how the cast feels about the film’s defiance of gravity? Ariana, in particular, can hardly contain her enthusiasm.

She expressed her astonishment and gratitude on Instagram Stories right after the Golden Globe nominations were announced last month. “I’m speechless with joy and pride,” she said. “Words can hardly express how thankful I feel for this recognition.

Regarding Cynthia, who had been recognized with Golden Globe nominations for her roles in “Harriet” and “Genius: Aretha”, she experienced nothing but pure and untainted gratitude.

Cynthia exclaimed, ‘I can’t fully articulate the significance of this moment, with me floating above the ground, but it means more than just my personal nomination. It’s also a testament to the recognition and celebration of this project and my incredible ‘Wicked’ family.’

The 37-year-old also couldn’t help but effuse over her character.

Participating in this project has been a long-cherished wish for me,” she went on, “and embodying Elphaba, a character who resonates with everyone who’s ever felt out of place and gives voice to their strength against all odds, has been an unforgettable privilege.

Apart from Ariana and Cynthia aspiring to play Glinda and Elphaba respectively, they have also been showing respect and support towards Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, who previously won a Tony award for their roles in the show.

Ariana shared with TopMob News at the Los Angeles premiere in November that the witch coven they are part of is incredibly supportive. In fact, each of their fellow sister witches has been extremely supportive. They feel truly honored to be a part of this legacy and to be the ones in the movie. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to share this experience with them.
