2025 Globes: Demi Moore Gives Moving Speech on Overcoming “Low Point”

Demi Moore is all substance at the 2025 Golden Globes.

In her heartfelt speech upon receiving the award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture category, the actress spoke emotionally about her role in the body horror film “The Substance.” She confided that at one point, she believed her acting career in Hollywood had reached its pinnacle.

Thirty years ago, a producer called me a “popcorn actress,” which I interpreted to mean that my success wasn’t something I was entitled to acknowledge. I thought I could only do movies that were financially successful but wouldn’t receive recognition for them. And unfortunately, I accepted this belief as truth.

In my expertise, I’ve found that a particular title gradually eroded my perspective towards my professional journey, causing me to question whether I had truly fulfilled the purpose intended for me in my career.

At a particularly difficult time,” she explained, “an extraordinary, daring, brave, unconventional screenplay titled ‘The Substance‘ landed on my desk. The universe seemed to be signaling, ‘There’s still more for you to accomplish.’

The initial Golden Globe laureate, who has three daughters – Rumer Willis (age 36), Scout Willis (age 33), and Tallulah Willis (age 30) with her former partner Bruce Willis – employed her personal journey to inspire others not to underestimate their own paths.

When I find myself doubting my intelligence, beauty, physique, achievements, or feeling simply inadequate in any way, a wise woman once told me: ‘Remember, you’ll never be ‘enough,’ but if you lay aside the yardstick of comparison, you can truly understand your self-worth.’

Demi summed it up by expressing that this moment serves as a testament to her completeness, fueled by the love within her, and a reminder of her belonging, as she cherishes the opportunity to engage in something she adores.
