2025’s Golden Globe Awards have come and passed, with Demi Moore’s historic win for her part in “The Substance” arguably being the highlight of the evening.
At the awards ceremony, the horror film about body terrorism directed by Coralie Fargeat received a total of five nominations. These included categories such as Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Director (for Fargeat herself), Best Supporting Actress (Margaret Qualley), and Best Screenplay.
Attention will shift towards seeing if the movie can match its previous triumphs as we await the announcement of BAFTA and Oscar nominees later in the month.

The film was originally released in UK cinemas on 20th September 2024.
What is The Substance about?
The Storyline revolves around Demi Moore’s character, Elizabeth Sparkle, a once-famous Hollywood actress whose fame has dwindled over time. After being let go from her long-running TV aerobics program by her producer who deems her too old, she resorts to using a drug that produces a younger counterpart of herself.
Yet, there’s a necessity for her to revert to her original aged form every seven days; otherwise, severe consequences may occur.

The star-studded ensemble of The Substance is spearheaded by Demi Moore, famously known for her Golden Globe Award-winning performance in Ghost.
In the heart of the production, I’m fortunate to be alongside Margaret Qualley from “Poor Things” and Dennis Quaid known for his role in “Lawmen: Bass Reeves”. Additionally, there are other talented individuals gracing our set, such as Edward Hamilton and Gore Abrams.
