I strongly support 14-inch gaming laptops, especially since my frequent travels around the world to events such as IFA in Berlin. Previously, Acer marketed its last-gen Acer Nitro V 14 to “women and casual gamers,” which was an odd choice. Fortunately, that outdated idea has been replaced, as the new Nitro V 14 AI now joins other entry-level gaming laptops with sizes ranging from 15 to 17 inches, which were introduced at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
The Acer Nitro V 14 AI is scheduled to launch in June as an updated budget gaming laptop featuring a 16:10 aspect ratio and a white finish that Acer describes as “pearl-like.” Although the exact pricing for the US market isn’t yet known, its €1,299 price tag in Europe suggests it may retail for around $1,299, considering exchange rate differences typically don’t significantly affect prices between these regions.
AMD-powered Nitro V AI gaming laptops
As an analyst, I’d put it this way: These latest Acer Nitro laptops, aptly named for their artificial intelligence capabilities, are equipped with processors incorporating Neural Processing Units (NPUs) that specialize in local AI processing. The Nitro V 14 AI model offers choices between AMD’s innovative “Krackan Point” Ryzen AI 5 340 or Ryzen AI 7 350 APUs, expanding the Ryzen AI 300 series lineup. Similar options are available for the Nitro V 16 and 17 AI models, which continue to utilize NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics.
In contrast to other models in the Nitro V lineup, the standout exception is the Nitro V 15 AI, as it utilizes Nitro’s own AI chips rather than AMD’s Ryzen 5 8645HS or Ryzen 7 8845HS processors. These AMD chips have been in circulation for some time. However, despite their differences (such as size and weight), the most noticeable variation among Nitro V models lies in display technology. Regrettably, only the 14-inch model lacks a choice for an 180Hz refresh rate; it offers 165Hz configurations instead, which is more than sufficient for smooth modern gaming experiences above 144Hz.
‘Non-AI’ Acer Nitro V 15 runs on Intel

Isolated in some ways, Acer unveiled a ‘non-AI’ variant of their Nitro V 15 laptop, labeled similarly but with distinct specifications. This model deviates from its AMD counterpart by utilizing Intel processors instead. Specifically, it employs either an Intel Core i5 210H or i7 240H, lacking Neural Processing Units (NPUs). However, these CPUs can manage AI tasks directly without the need for NPUs, much like any other chip.
Similar to the Nitro V AI laptops, Acer has hinted that the cost for the standard Nitro V 15 will be revealed near its release date. Given that it’s sticking with 1080p resolution options, it seems like it might be more affordable. However, this doesn’t come as a surprise since Acer Nitro gaming laptops have been known for their budget-friendly pricing for quite some time now. These new models appear to follow the same trend.
Given the Nitro V 15 from last year, it’s likely that this new model might exceed $999.99 in price due to its upgraded RAM and storage capacity surpassing the previous minimum of 8GB/512GB. However, the European pricing suggesting a direct €1,299 to $1,299 conversion could indicate a higher cost, but only time will tell for certain. Ideally, I’d prefer Acer to maintain the price under $1000 if they want to keep up with upcoming powerful gaming handhelds in the market.
