Blake Lively’s legal team is shutting down claims from Justin Baldoni.
In the midst of a $250 million lawsuit filed by the director of “It Ends With Us” against The New York Times for libel due to an article about alleged smear tactics against a former “Gossip Girl” cast member following sexual harassment accusations, her legal team is responding to additional criticism from Baldoni.
According to Lively’s legal team’s statement to TopMob News on January 6, this issue is not a dispute stemming from creative disagreements or a he-said-she-said scenario. Instead, the accusations in Lively’s original complaint involve substantial claims of sexual harassment and retaliation.
As a committed supporter, I’d like to express that according to my understanding, the legal team of Lively highlighted an instance where Baldoni and his company, Wayfarer Studios, allegedly resorted to illegal, retaliatory actions known as astroturfing, specifically targeting Ms. Lively. This was in response to her efforts to ensure safety on a film set, as outlined in her initial grievance against Wayfarer Studios that she submitted to the California Civil Rights Department.
In their ongoing argument, they asserted that the lawsuit filed by Baldoni and his team against The New York Times was primarily intended to escalate further attacks on Ms. Lively following her initial legal action.
Alongside the lawsuit initiated for Baldoni and his colleague at Wayfarer Studios, Jamey Heath, as well as crisis PR expert Melissa Nathan, and seven other parties, Bryan Freedman – the alum of Jane the Virgin’s lawyer – informed NBC News that Baldoni intends to file a lawsuit against Lively. In simpler terms, they are planning to sue Lively in addition to the existing lawsuit involving Baldoni, Jamey Heath, Melissa Nathan, and others.
In response to Baldoni’s ongoing legal battle with the Times, as reported by TopMob News, it was emphasized that “This legal action aims to make the Times answer for its part in this defamation scheme. However, the plaintiffs are not stopping here. There are other individuals who have contributed negatively to this situation, and be assured—this will not be the only lawsuit filed.
As a fervent admirer, I’m closely following the developments and can’t help but share my perspective. My beloved role model, Lively, continues to stand firm on her accusations against Baldoni, as she initially detailed in her civil rights complaint. The allegations of misconduct linger, waiting for resolution.
In a statement, Lively’s legal representatives stressed that sexual harassment and retaliation are prohibited in all work environments and industries. To divert attention from accusations of such misconduct, it’s often attempted to shift blame onto the victim by implying they encouraged the behavior, brought it upon themselves, misunderstood the intentions, or were dishonest.
The statement went on to say, “A common strategy is to switch the roles of accused and accuser, implying that the one who is accused is actually the wronged party. This approach makes severe accusations seem ordinary or insignificant.
Meanwhile, although Lively’s group has voiced their backing for her, they underlined the fact that “statements made by the media do not serve as a defense against Ms. Lively’s lawsuits.
The statement ended by saying that they would persist with her case in a federal court, where the outcome is decided by the law, rather than empty rhetoric and intimidation.
On the other hand, Baldoni’s team reinforced the actor’s position that the article published in the Times was a presentation of “selective truths.
It’s ironic, indeed, that Blake Lively is criticizing Justin Baldoni for manipulating the media when it appears her team pre-emptively leaked falsified documents to the Times before lodging their complaint,” Freedman commented in a statement to TopMob News. “We will be making public all the proof, which will demonstrate a history of intimidation and attempts to dominate the film industry.
He continued, “We have all the receipts and more.”
Ever since the California Civil Rights Department’s complaint against Lively became public last month, I, as a die-hard fan, have been closely following the developments. And let me tell you, it’s heartening to see numerous stars—even those who were part of It Ends With Us—speaking up in support. So, keep reading for all their inspiring messages!
Following Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, her It Ends With Us costar and director, alleging sexual harassment during filming and later involvement in a damaging campaign against her (which he has since refuted through his lawyer) – Colleen Hoover, author of the book upon which the movie is based, posted a supportive message to the actress.
On her Instagram Stories, Colleen expressed, “Ever since our first encounter, @blakelively, you’ve been sincere, generous, encouraging, and understanding. I want to thank you for remaining just as authentic as you always have been. Continue being you, unchanged, unyielding.
Blake’s sister, fellow actress Robyn Lively, also weighed in.
Hey everyone! On December 23rd, I passionately implored you all to delve deep into the entirety of an article from The New York Times. This piece sheds light on a crucial matter – the complaint my beloved sister Blake filed with the California Civil Rights Department. It exposes those who orchestrated the relentless and underhanded smear campaign designed to tarnish her reputation.
In a subsequent remark, the actress who played the lead role in Teen Witch pointed out that it mirrors, or shed light on, the alleged events that occurred during Blake’s time filming It Ends With Us.
The director of Blake’s movie “A Simple Favor” also spoke up in support of her, posting on December 22nd: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Blake on two films now, and I can honestly say that she is one of the most dedicated, imaginative, cooperative, gifted, and compassionate individuals I’ve ever encountered. It’s unfortunate that she has been subjected to this defamatory campaign. I believe it’s deplorable that she had to endure this.
On December 22nd, the comedian expressed her backing for the former Gossip Girl star by posting on her Instagram Story, “I trust Blake.
Following the release of Blake’s complaint, the founder of Goop posted a picture of Blake Brown’s hair company on her Instagram Story, stating, “I’ve just added this to my Christmas wish list.
Blake’s closest friends and co-stars from ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ collectively penned a message on Instagram, dated December 22nd, expressing their support: “We stand with her in unity as she bravely confronts the alleged efforts to tarnish her reputation.
Bart Johnson voiced a heartfelt support for his sister-in-law in the comment area beneath an Instagram post by the New York Times, discussing their submission and investigation into the backstage chaos.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: “During the filming, concerns were raised about him, as reported in this article. It’s important to note that these issues were documented well before any public disputes arose. The cast chose to unfollow him for reasons that are now clear. Before jumping to conclusions, I encourage everyone to read this piece thoroughly. His PR team was indeed masterful, managing to spin the narrative in ways that may seem distasteful but undeniably effective. By reading the article, you can see his text message exchanges and his strategic approach to damage control. No one is perfect, but it’s clear that the public has been influenced by this carefully crafted image. Remember, there are always two sides to every story.
Later, he commented on Baldoni, stating, “He’s a pretender. He dons the garb of a hero, sporting a man bun. He employs all the fashionable phrases and jargon for his podcasts. It’s not authentic. It’s just a show. And many were deceived by it for years. Re-examine his videos with a skeptical gaze and observe him dishing out self-praise with feigned humility and modesty. What an act!
Shawn Levy, who often works with Ryan Reynolds, posted on his Instagram Stories the findings of the New York Times probe into the smear tactics. He expressed pride in considering Blake Lively a friend by writing, “I’m proud to know @blakelively as a friend.
After Lively’s court filing became known, Amber Heard took a moment to contemplate her own ordeal of receiving intense backlash online during the defamation trial involving her former partner, Johnny Depp.
The actor known for playing Aquaman stated to NBC News on December 23rd that social media mirrors the old saying, “A lie can circle the globe while the truth is still putting on its shoes.” He’s witnessed this phenomenon personally and close up. It’s both shocking and damaging in its impact.
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share the heartfelt encouragement Brandon Sklenar, the captivating actor who brought Atlas Corrigan to life in “It Ends With Us,” recently conveyed. His message was clear and profoundly moving.
On December 23rd, the former Gossip Girl star posted a screenshot of his full complaint against Baldoni on his Instagram Stories, accompanied by a link to the text. In the caption, he expressed, “Oh dear, please take a moment to read this.” He also tagged her with a heart emoji.
Jenny Slate, who portrayed Baldoni’s sister and was close friend of Blake’s in the movie, expressed her views on the “troubling” claims.
In a statement made to Today on December 23rd, my colleague and friend, Slate, expressed his backing as Blake Lively stands up against those accused of damaging her reputation. He highlighted that Blake is a strong leader, reliable friend, and a source of emotional comfort for many who know and care about her.
In simpler terms, the Parks and Recreation alum went on to say that what has been uncovered about the attack on Blake is incredibly grim, unsettling, and entirely menacing. I highly respect my friend, I appreciate her courage, and I will stand with her through this difficult time.
In the role of a devoted fan, I express my affection for Blake Lively, who shares the screen with me in the upcoming chapter of “A Simple Favor“. On Instagram Story, December 23rd, I conveyed my sympathy, acknowledging the shared “pain” we experienced while working together earlier this year.
