In the second season of Solo Leveling, the narrative resumed with an episode that mirrored its predecessor’s grim and violent tone. The first season of this popular anime adaptation of Chugong’s light novel series started off with one of the darkest episodes in the series, where protagonist Sung Jinwoo discovered his ability to level up after enduring a brutal death inside a mysterious double dungeon. In the second season, Jinwoo finds himself in a comparable situation, as he and his party find themselves trapped within a C-rank gate that suddenly turns red, indicating much tougher opponents than initially expected.
Following the acquisition of the Shadow Monarch class by Jinwoo at the conclusion of Season 1, it seems his character is venturing into a more ominous direction. This was hinted during a recent interview with Real Sound before the commencement of Season 2, and it was suggested that Jinwoo’s trajectory will continue to become increasingly ominous.
Jinwoo’s Voice Actor Teases “Dark” Season 2 for Solo Leveling
So far, Taito Ban has delivered an exceptional portrayal of Sung Jinwoo, gradually shaping the weak E-rank hunter into one of the planet’s strongest. With season 2, he is given more opportunities to showcase his acting range as he conveys, “[Jinwoo] has experienced a significant transformation, not just mentally but also physically.
Ban affirmed that Jinwoo’s progression has significantly accelerated from Season 1 to Season 2, profoundly shaping his character. “Every step of his advancement carries significance,” Ban stated. He went on to say that, unlike the manga which relies on visual hints, he was able to convey Jinwoo’s metamorphosis through his voice, complemented by the score. “In the animated series, we were able to portray this growth through animation and music,” Ban continued. “I encourage you to watch as Jinwoo acquires new abilities in Season 2 and witness which path he chooses.
Cha Hae-In Joins the Fight in Solo Leveling Season 2
During the interview, voice actress Reina Ueda added excitement amongst fans, hinting at the full display of Cha Hae-in’s S-rank powers in Season 2 of “Solo Leveling.” In Season 1, Hae-in, a formidable hunter and vice-guild master of the Hunters Guild, made an appearance but was not heavily involved in the action. Ueda assures fans that Season 2 will offer more engaging content for those who support Hae-in.
In his reflection on Cha Hae-in’s limited appearances during Season 1, Ueda noted that her character was presented as a strong individual from the very start. For the upcoming Season 2, he hinted at scenes displaying Hae-in’s physical prowess. During filming, he mentioned, it was beneficial to record those segments together with the cast, as it facilitated a better understanding of breathing patterns and voice balance. This, in turn, allowed him to express Hae-in’s strength and fighting spirit more effectively through her voice.
Right now, you can watch the premiere of Season 2, Episode 1 of “Solo Leveling” on Crunchyroll. Fresh episodes will be added every Saturday. The sneak peek for Episode 2, called “I Guess You Haven’t Heard,” has been unveiled and hints at the grand entrance of the ice elf Baruka in the upcoming episode.
