First introduced in 1997, DOOM 64 was created and distributed by Midway Games, marking the peak of the series during its release, despite being a spin-off title. Years later, Nightdive Studios took on the task of porting it to PS4 in 2020 as a pre-order bonus for DOOM Eternal. Recent updates to the Entertainment Software Rating Board’s (ESRB) listings suggest that DOOM 64 might be making its way natively onto the PS5.
According to GameRant’s observation, there seems to be a hint that a revelation about this game could be coming soon, as submitting a title to the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) is one of the last steps before a game can be released, and developers aim to make the box label as precise as possible. As for what significant upgrades it might offer since the PS4 version operates at a locked 60fps at 2160p on PS5, we’ll just have to stay tuned and find out.
