Out There confirms ITV air date for Martin Clunes thriller

Martin Clunes‘ new ITV show, “Out There,” now has an official release date, which is quickly approaching!

Back in September 2023, we first heard about the upcoming thriller series. Now, after much anticipation, it’s finally making its way to our screens! The premiere episode will air at 9pm on Sunday, 19th January, and you can catch it on ITV1 and ITVX.

Meanwhile, the second episode will arrive a day later, on Monday 20th January at 9pm.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t wait to immerse myself in the six-episode saga where I step into the boots of Martin Clunes, a humble farmer living peacefully in his countryside haven. However, tranquility takes a chilling turn as sinister forces start to insidiously creep into my community, promising an intriguing and suspenseful journey.

Manhunt writers-directors Ed Whitmore and Marc Evans have crafted a role for Clunes as Nathan Williams, a character who’s been mourning the loss of his wife for two years.

Currently a solo parent, Nathan begins a journey aimed at safeguarding his loved ones, home, and heritage as his son and means of living face danger from ruthless local drug dealers operating within the county lines.

In addition, the show includes performances by Louis Ashbourne Serkis portraying Johnny, Mark Lewis Jones taking on the role of Caleb Williams, Natalia Kostrzewa as Eva, Carly-Sophia Davies acting as Sadie, and Gerran Howell appearing as Rhys.

Clunes expressed his joy in a statement upon the series’ unveiling: “I’m thrilled to collaborate with Marc Evans and Ed Whitmore once more following our triumph with Manhunt. Out There contrasts significantly from Doc Martin. It’s quite grim, but it’s undeniably a tale that needs to be shared.

Ed Whitmore, both writer and executive producer, commented: “County lines is a particularly brutal and merciless form of drug trafficking that employs terror and brutality to compel, frequently vulnerable, young individuals into serving as runners and vendors. This issue has grown into a significant and escalating concern throughout the entire United Kingdom, making it a compelling and relevant story to share.

I’ve been captivated by the idea that things are often concealed right in front of us, and how various communities can peacefully coexist side by side until suddenly they clash. The core idea of Out There – a widowed farmer who learns his son has become entangled in county lines – resonated strongly with me as a story I felt compelled to share.
