As a dedicated Pokemon Go player, I’m hyped about the upcoming Pokemon Go Tour: Unova event next month! This tour is all about content from Pokemon Black and White, along with their sequels. Niantic just revealed that one of the standout features from Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, Fusion, is coming to Pokemon Go for the very first time.
This means that, for the first time in this mobile game, players will have the chance to merge Kyurem with Zekrom and Reshiram to create Black Kyurem and White Kyurem! This exciting new feature will initially be accessible to those attending the events in New Taipei City and Los Angeles from February 21st through 23rd. On a global scale, it will be available to everyone on March 1st and 2nd. Can’t wait to get my hands on this!
In the year 2024, during Pokemon Go Fest, Pokemon Fusions made their appearance in Pokemon Go for the first time. The event introduced Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma, which is unusual since Black Kyurem and White Kyurem were presented years prior in the mainline games. The fusion mechanic in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 differed slightly from that in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, but the concept remained similar. These Pokemon can merge to form more powerful versions, but players have the ability to revert them back to their original forms afterwards.
In a similar fashion to Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozam, trainers will utilize both Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. To do so, trainers will require 30 Kyurem Candies, in addition to either 30 Zekrom Candies or 30 Reshiram Candies. For Black Kyurem, players need 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, while White Kyurem requires 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy. Trainers can acquire this energy by overcoming Zekrom and Reshiram in Raid Battles. Much like during Pokemon Go Fest 2024, trainers will have a possibility of discovering special versions of Kyurem, Zekrom, and Reshiram. These unique forms can merge when fused together. Last but not least, these Fusions will showcase exclusive attacks: Freeze Shock for Black Kyurem and Ice Burn for White Kyurem.
The power of Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma in battles within Raids and Go Battle League has earned them a significant following among players, leading to their reintroduction last fall. It’s intriguing to speculate whether Black Kyurem and White Kyurem will also gain popularity once they are introduced. No matter what influence these fusions have on Pokemon Go, it’s satisfying to see them finally join the game. Besides Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, this year’s Pokemon Go Tour will feature various Pikachus adorned with hats and visors similar to those seen in Pokemon Black and White and their sequels.
In approximately a month, the Pokemon Go Tour: Unova event is scheduled to occur, and we can expect more details about it in the weeks leading up. A recent leak suggests that there’ll be some form of Timed Research associated with the event, which will likely be unveiled during a Pokemon Presents on Pokemon Day next month. The Pokemon Black and White games are highly respected among Pokemon enthusiasts, and a significant portion of this admiration stems from the unique Pokemon introduced in these games. Here’s hoping that Pokemon Go Tour: Unova offers plenty for fans to anticipate regardless of their previous experience with the original DS titles.
