Two years following the immense success of the initial Bank of Dave movie on Netflix, a new installment debuts this week – and Rory Kinnear reprises his part as the heroic figure, Dave Fishwick, hailing from Burnley, in the sequel.
While the initial movie centered around his endeavor to establish a local bank in Burnley, this sequel focuses on his crusade against predatory payday lenders exploiting vulnerable individuals. This journey takes him from his home in Burnley all the way to the United States.
He told me, “Dave, I’m seriously considering making a film based on your book and documentaries. So, who do you think should portray you?” To which I replied, “Well, as it turns out, Tom Cruise looks quite a bit like me!
Besides Kinnear, some familiar faces reappear in the sequel, with Hugh Bonneville among them. Meanwhile, Chrissy Metz from This is Us and Rob Delaney known for his roles in Deadpool and Wolverine have joined the cast for this round of American actors.
Additionally, you’ll find appearances by several famous figures, including Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary who momentarily step into their real-life personas. Furthermore, Def Leppard reappears to add to the entertainment.
It’s important to keep in mind that while the movie is inspired by true events, certain creative liberties have been taken in portraying these occurrences. With the exception of Dave, Nicky (his wife), and David H, the characters you will encounter are fictional, though they are loosely based on real figures.

Rory Kinnear plays Dave Fishwick
I’m intrigued by Dave Fishwick, a man who built his fortune from humble beginnings as a minibus driver. Remarkably, he made headlines when he successfully established a community bank in Burnley, earning him the title of a local hero. In this latest film, we follow his relentless fight against exploitative payday lenders and loan sharks who prey upon vulnerable individuals.
As a cinephile, I’ve always been intrigued by the versatile talent that is Rory Kinnear. He’s the fellow who brought Bill Tanner to life in the iconic James Bond film series. Beyond that, he’s graced our screens with his presence in critically acclaimed films like The Imitation Game and Men, as well as captivating TV shows such as Black Mirror, Our Flag Means Death, Years and Years, Inside No. 9, Penny Dreadful, and The Diplomat. In the near future, he’s set to enchant us once more, this time as Tom Bombadil in the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Chrissy Metz plays Jessica

Who is Carlo Mancini? He is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the payday loan company that Dave targets.
Has Rob Delaney appeared in any other projects aside from Catastrophe? Yes, he gained recognition earlier as an internet personality, and subsequently, he was given his own show on Comedy Central.
On the large movie screen, he is recognized for portraying Peter in the Deadpool series, as well as featuring in movies such as Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, The Hustle, Bombshell, and a brief stint in Mission: Impossible – Fallout (part one).
Hugh Bonneville plays Sir Charles Denbigh

In the earlier movie, there was a banker named Sir Charles Denbigh who was adamant about closing down Dave’s business.
As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the versatile acting career of Hugh Bonneville. Most notably recognized for his captivating performances in Downton Abbey (and its subsequent feature films), W1A, and the Paddington series, he has graced our screens with numerous roles throughout the years. More recently, he’s appeared in BBC’s The Gold, embarked on the completely made-up adventures of Dick Turpin, starred in Netflix’s I Came By, and graced Channel 4’s Douglas Is Cancelled. Quite a resume, wouldn’t you agree?

Apart from his notable role as Jacob Kowalski in the Fantastic Beasts films, Dan Fogler has also made significant appearances on TV shows like The Goldbergs and The Walking Dead. Additionally, he portrayed Francis Ford Coppola in the series The Offer, and will be seen as Albert Grossman in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.
