Netflix’s Sakamoto Days Recruits WWE, Avatar, & Blue Beetle Stars for English Cast


Enthusiasts of anime from the West have an extra reason to be thrilled about the upcoming “Sakamoto Days,” as the new series has brought on board some popular actors from “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” “Blue Beetle,” “WWE,” “Solo Leveling,” “Castlevania,” and “Critical Role” for its English dub. The show is set to debut on Netflix on January 11th, with the first season releasing in two segments – Season 1, Part 2 will follow in July.

The manga by Yuto Suzuki titled “Sakamoto Days” centers around Taro Sakamoto, a former assassin looking forward to peacefully running a local convenience store with his wife. However, when a 1 billion yen bounty is placed on his head, he vows to use non-violent means to eliminate the pursuers and safeguard his tranquil lifestyle. With an anticipated blockbuster debut in the Winter 2025 season, the excitement surrounding the new English dubbed version of the series continues to grow.

Sakamoto Days Features a Stacked English Voice Cast

The ensemble for the English dub of “Sakamoto Days” boasts a star-studded cast featuring top-tier voice actors, movie stars, and even a renowned professional wrestler. Veteran voice actor Matthew Mercer (“Critical Role” and “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba“) will bring life to Taro Sakamoto. Dallas Liu from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” voices Shin Asakura, who was once Taro’s partner but now works at a convenience store. Rosalie Chang (“>Turning Red“) gives voice to Lu Shaotang, Taro’s adopted daughter. Xolo Maridueña, known for his work in DC productions, voices the inept sniper Heisuke Mashimo. Aleks Le (“Dandadan“) lends her talent to Yoichi Nagumo, an old friend of Taro’s. WWE superstar Lexi Babrera (Alexa Bliss) brings the character Obiguro to life, a formidable assassin, while Boiled is voiced by SungWon Cho (“>Delicious in Dungeon“). Du-Shaunt “Fik-Shun” Stegal, a popular Tik Tok personality, voices one of the twin assassins, Son Hee, and Toru Uchikado from “Castlevania” plays his brother, Bacho.

According to an official announcement, several members of the English voice cast for the upcoming anime series, “Sakamoto Days”, expressed their enthusiasm about joining the production. Xolo Maridueña, known for his roles in “Blue Beetle” and “Cobra Kai”, stated, “I couldn’t resist the chance to collaborate with Dallas Liu on this next-level anime.” His colleague, Dallas Liu, who is also working on the show, shared that he was already a devoted fan of Yuto Suzuki’s manga before joining the project. He expressed his excitement, saying, “Being a part of it as Shin — the one and only — I’m absolutely thrilled!
