Windows 10 for PCs is not the only version of Windows to reach end of support this year

On October 14, 2025, not only will Windows 10 reach its end of support, but so will Teams Rooms on this version of Windows. Microsoft has announced this through a blog post, detailing the implications of this change for affected organizations and users, as well as offering guidance on what to do next.

According to Microsoft, starting from October 14, 2025, Teams Rooms on Windows 10 devices will stop receiving security and new feature updates. To keep benefiting from the latest productivity, security, and management enhancements, it’s important to upgrade to Windows 11.

As the support period for Windows 10 on Teams Rooms comes to an end, we’re here to provide a straightforward solution to ensure the continued functionality of this vital system within your business.

Microsoft Teams Rooms refer to communication-friendly meeting spaces that are compatible with numerous gadgets. By installing cameras, microphones, speakers, and screens, you can establish a realistic, engaging atmosphere for your conversations. While Microsoft’s Surface Hub devices might be the most recognized Teams Rooms hardware due to their popular Surface branding, there is a wide range of compatible devices available from companies such as Crestron, HP, Lenovo, Logitech, Poly, and Yealink.

While the desktop version of Windows 10 continues to dominate with over 62% market share, according to Statcounter, the use of Teams Rooms on Windows 10 has decreased significantly. Microsoft has reported that most Teams Rooms devices have been upgraded to Windows 11 automatically. However, there are certain systems that are not compatible with the newer operating system and thus do not benefit from this upgrade.

Microsoft highlighted some devices that are unable to upgrade, but the list is not exhaustive:

  • Lenovo Hub 500 (i5-7500T)
  • HP Slice G2 (i5-7500T)
  • HP Elite Slice (i5-7500T)
  • Yealink NUC – NUC7i5DNKE (i5-7300U)
  • Crestron Skull Canyon (i7-6770HQ)

From the current date until October 14, 2025, both Teams Rooms and Teams Rooms Pro Management software will run the Teams Room app on Windows 11. Users with Teams Rooms devices must upgrade their systems in order to keep receiving support. If a device can’t be upgraded, it will need to be replaced.
