Pokemon TCG Pocket Players Agree One Time-Wasting Problem Needs to Go

The mobile version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, dubbed “Pokémon TCG Pocket,” has proven to be incredibly successful for The Pokémon Company, quickly ranking as the second highest-grossing Pokémon mobile app within ten weeks. Players have been eagerly opening booster packs and promo packs to construct engaging and competitive decks. Since its launch, The Pokémon Company has consistently provided free rewards, numerous events, and more, demonstrating their commitment to the game’s growth. Nevertheless, many players have expressed concerns about certain aspects of the game, particularly those that seem to waste time, serve no practical purpose, and could easily be addressed in “Pokémon TCG Pocket” for a more enjoyable experience.

A common complaint among players about the Pokemon TCG Pocket game revolves around the numerous screens they are required to navigate through. For instance, during the recent promo pack event, one player mentioned that it takes them three to five screens to open a single promo pack, which contains only one card. This process involves going to the Gifts tab, clicking Claim, then OK, swiping to open the pack, and finally collecting the card. If this card is new, the process extends even further.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the seemingly small task of continually pressing a button on the screen can accumulate quite a bit when you consider the number of promo packs being opened. Unlike booster packs that allow for a ten-pull, these promo packs must be opened one at a time, making me go through the same screen repeatedly. It’s not just a quick click here and there; it can become quite tedious over time.

Apart from what you’ve mentioned, there are numerous other instances of this issue. The game requires players to go through countless unnecessary animations, transitions between screens, and prompts that seem more like obstacles than part of the gaming experience. Many actions, such as opening packs or coin flips, are already decided when the screen appears, so compelling players to wait through these screens is redundant.

This game is needlessly slow

In contrast to Pokemon TCG Live and the traditional physical TCG game, Pokemon TCG Pocket is intended to offer a quicker play style. However, users find it frustrating as every action requires multiple steps, leading to a slow-paced experience that players are growing tired of. Streamlining the process with a quick skip animation or minimizing unnecessary actions could greatly enhance speed and overall enjoyment for players. The Pokemon Company might consider adding a customizable toggle button in the menu to allow players to tailor their gaming experience.

The Pokémon TCG Pocket version has been highly popular among fans, yet The Pokémon Company and Creatures Inc. could benefit from enhancing user experience by incorporating some quality-of-life improvements. To date, the updates have primarily focused on introducing new cards and events, often disregarding player feedback. Introducing faster game transitions and a dark mode are straightforward adjustments that would not conflict with core game mechanics. More complex issues such as the ‘first-turn problem’ stem from gameplay decisions, which may require more substantial changes in the future.
