Hideo Kojima recently shared another behind-the-scenes look into his development process on Twitter, assuring fans that work on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is progressing. This upcoming game for the PlayStation 5 is expected to release this year. Unlike previous updates, there were no sneak peeks of the game or PS5 Pro development kits; instead, Kojima was seen at his desk with a charming Astro Bot-themed PS5 controller.
Since Death Stranding 2 is set to launch in 2025, it seems reasonable to assume that whatever Kojima is currently working on contributes significantly to the final stages of game development. Last year, the PS5 exclusive (for now), titled On the Beach, was confirmed for a 2025 release with an extensive trailer. Since then, we’ve mainly learned about a Photo Mode that influences the narrative in some way.
