Caroline Flack documentary from perspective of her mother announced by Disney Plus

This article contains discussions of suicide which some may find upsetting.

This year, a documentary movie focusing on the late TV host Caroline Flack is set for release on Disney Plus. The film follows Caroline’s mother in her efforts to comprehend the series of events that culminated in her daughter’s passing.

Flack was most recognized by audiences for being the host of the popular ITV show Love Island. Prior to this, she had experience working on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! NOW!, The X Factor, and even emerged victorious in the 2014 season of Strictly Come Dancing.

In February 2020, at the age of 40, she ended her life, approximately two months following her resignation from Love Island and roughly two weeks prior to a planned trial for assault allegations, for which she maintained her innocence.

The alleged victim, her boyfriend Lewis Burton, did not support the prosecution.

Criticism arose throughout the media regarding the portrayal of Flack’s exit from Love Island and associated legal matters following her passing, as it drew widespread disapproval.

Five years on, Christine, her mother, continues her quest to comprehend the events that unfolded, as a full-length documentary titled “Caroline” chronicles her pursuit of the truth by gathering personal accounts from the deceased presenter’s relatives and acquaintances.

The movie brought Christine back together with the production team at Curious Films, who were behind Channel 4’s documentary titled Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death, first aired in March 2021. This marked one year since her unfortunate demise.

Christine Flack expressed that she’s eager to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Caroline’s last few months, despite knowing it won’t be an easy journey, as it stirs strong emotions within her.

It’s great to collaborate with the Curious Films team once more. Our aim is to shed light on Carrie’s narrative – a clarification that isn’t just beneficial for her, but also for those who deeply cared about her.

Dov Freedman, the executive producer at Curious Films, stated: “Usually, we don’t feel compelled to revisit a topic. But almost five years after Caroline’s unfortunate passing, it’s clear that there are still many questions left unanswered for Christine and her family that require further investigation.

It’s great to be teaming up with the Flack family for a second time. Together, we aim to find a solution related to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Caroline’s passing.
