The recent presentation predominantly highlighted “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii“, a new installment of the series, featuring Majima Goro on a treasure-hunting voyage by sea. As a side-story from “Infinite Wealth”, it’s an exciting blend of action and adventure, with elements of beat ’em up combat and naval warfare. For more information about its plot, gameplay mechanics, and other details, watch the presentation below.
In this game, Majima utilizes two distinct fighting styles: Mad Dog and Sea Dog. Sea Dog is unique as it involves the use of twin cutlasses and pistols. For the first time in the series, players can now jump, enabling them to send enemies flying or drop down on them from above. The player also has the ability to swiftly transition between these two styles, and during combat, can summon powerful entities using Dark Instruments.
Additionally, players engage in naval warfare, where they can hire and deploy more than 100 crew members on their vessel to engage enemy ships. Building relationships with the crew enhances their abilities, while strategic weapon selection – from flamethrowers to lasers – is crucial for survival. Players also have the opportunity to personally operate certain weapons. Furthermore, the sea hides mysterious creatures that are yet to be fully discovered.
Beyond these offerings, you’ll also find Madlantis, a place brimming with excitement as the Pirate Coliseum beckons. The direct announcement reveals that a variety of four battle modes are in store, among them, naval warfare, to reap the rewards.
The game titled “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” is set to release on February 21st, available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Unlike the game “Infinite Wealth“, it will offer New Game Plus as a free addition after its launch.
