Jennifer Garner is reflecting on the difficult situation facing Southern California.
A former student at Alias openly discussed the emotional struggles she’s encountered following the tragic loss she experienced due to the destructive wildfires sweeping through her neighborhood in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles.
Jennifer shared during a January 10th interview with MSNBC, alongside chef José Andrés, that she had lost a dear friend and it’s still a sensitive topic for their church. She mentioned that she isn’t ready to discuss the details about her friend just yet, but confirmed that unfortunately, her friend was unable to escape in time.
The woman, aged 52, who has children named Violet (19), Seraphina (15), and Samuel (12) with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, mentioned that she could compile a list of 100 friends whose homes were destroyed by fire. This tragic situation has left her feeling overwhelmed as her own home, miraculously, remains untouched by the fires so far.
In a strange twist of emotions, I find myself almost ashamed as I traverse my own sanctuary,” Jennifer confessed, leading her to ponder how she could be of service during these challenging times. “What role can I play? How might I lend a hand? What skills do I possess? What unique resources do I have at my disposal with these hands and these walls, the security they provide?
I shared, “I’m deeply affected by the plight of my friends. To put it into perspective, it’s as if 100 entire families and their 5,000 homes have been devastated.
Jennifer expressed, “For the past 25 years, I’ve been residing near the Palisades. This has made us locals feel a strong desire to contribute in some way to help out. The Palisades isn’t a distant, unreachable place for us.
For this purpose, Jennifer began collaborating with Chef José from World Central Kitchen, an organization he established in 2010, providing meals during global crises.
Jose clarified to MSNBC, “That’s the kind of work World Central Kitchen carries out. We sprang into action just an hour after the fire started.
As the fires kept spreading, the renowned restaurant owner brought on more staff and additional food trucks.
He went on to say, “We’re providing meals for those in shelters and emergency workers, and we’re adjusting our approach as the circumstances change day after day.
I was beyond thrilled to join forces with José and his remarkable team, feeling like I hit the jackpot! “Being part of World Central Kitchen and observing Chef José effortlessly take charge, assuring us with his calm confidence that ‘We’ve got this under control, don’t worry. We’ve got you,’ is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
