Jennie Garth and Dave Abrams are unpacking their experience in the L.A. Fires.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Following the revelation of my former co-star from “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Peter Facinelli, about our temporary reunion during the recent Los Angeles wildfires – a shared effort to ensure safety for our children Luca (age 27), Lola (22), and Fiona (18) – my spouse and I took time to ponder on this unique experience.
During the January 11th episode of Jennie’s “I Choose Me” podcast, Dave said it had been an unusual week, to put it mildly, and that it was definitely an unconventional beginning to the year 2025.
Jennie concurred, stating that she felt it was appropriate for her husband to join the podcast episode as she felt the need for his presence beside her. She expressed, “I had thought this year would be great – we were moving forward with enthusiasm and anticipation about what lay ahead, but this unexpected situation arose.
In 2015, the married couple verified that their house made it through the Eaton Fire. They shared that they temporarily moved in with the actress from Nurse Jackie, her fiancée Lily Anne Harrison, and their two-year-old son Jack during the time when their neighborhood was under an evacuation warning.
On Tuesday afternoon, the winds grew quite intense as Dave explained, and Jennie concurred, “From our home, we could observe the fires. They were on a single ridge, a nearby hill. It was truly terrifying. I believe it was around then that fear really took hold.
Jennifer realized that her oldest child had arrived in Los Angeles, giving her a sense of reassurance with all her kids close by during these turbulent times. However, she finds it hard to describe, almost like a lack of feeling, as she reflects on the events of the past week.
Jennie remembered it seemed as though our home might take flight, disintegrate, shatter every single wall. The children were petrified by the experience.
Dave remarked, “We noticed the scent of smoke, so collectively we decided to act. We phoned Peter, and together, we chose to investigate the source.
Meanwhile, Dave chose to stay at home with their elderly pet dog, as the family did. However, he was later compelled to leave in the morning due to an evacuation order. As he recalled, it was a strange feeling realizing he might never return to his familiar surroundings again, thinking, “It feels like a dream that I won’t get to see this place ever again.
After everyone had gathered at Peter’s house in the valley, the pair underlined that it took some time for the tension to ease, but they did find a positive aspect amidst the whole incident.
Dave reminisced about the lovely family dinner we shared, an event that was new to us all. Instead of our usual routine, we opted for a change, indulging in a delicious spread of Chinese cuisine. The evening offered a welcome respite from everyday thoughts, making it truly enjoyable.
Jennie added, “We turned off the news for a minute and tried to have…”
Dave concluded, “Normalcy.”
